Double folders on media tree - can I delete one?

Post by Kutusov »

As usual, please bear with me, I'm not even sure how to make the question... so also sorry if this has been covered already but I don't even know what to look for...

Anyway, since the last MM update, I now have two music folders showing up on the Media Tree. There used to be just one and this might make sense or not... I have all my music in the root level of an external HD and I have it divided into two folders: one for general music, another for Classic Music. I have it set up this way because tagging Classic albums is a mess and I have them all mixed up.

But after the update, there's a Classical Music folder... I think it's a paralel one and not some kind of filter but they don't have the same kind of options (EDIT: Sorry, they do... I had the "files to edit" extended on one of them). Perhaps pictures explain it better:

Classical Music folder:

Now, the main problem is that what's on the Classical folder library doesn't show up on the other one so now I have two libraries (at least I think I do...). I would like to have everything on a single library (besides "Sade" and "A Hank and a Hacksaw" aren't exactly classical music :-? )

I would like to have everything in the same library because I want to bring back my Classical albums, one by one, with the correct tags. ITunes and its "I know better than you" thing auto-tagged everything and I have no idea of what's what now. So I'll have to rip everything again.

So finally my question... how do I get that Classical Music folder out of there so I can have a single library with everything musical in it?

Cheers, thanks!

Music and Classical Music are Collections and you can disable/enable Collections under File > Manage Collections: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0

You can either disable both and just enable the Entire Library Collection or disable Classical Music and edit Music (Gold feature) to include the criteria Type = Classical Music.

What I do is mostly use the location tree for most of my music. In classical sometimes I organize by composer but for other music the performer is more important.

Classical is the only type of music I still find difficult to fully move from a physical CD to a digital format. There are hundreds of, say, "Mozart's Requiem"... different conductors, different concerts, different orchestras...

Another thing that makes it hard for me is that most of the classical stuff I own on CD comes in box sets. For example, Mozart's complete sacred works (masses and all that - 13 Teldec CDs ). When you tag that, it will give an album with 150 or whatever tracks. So it's a bit tricky to find where does a particular mass starts and another begins. I was tagging this particular box set just yesterday and I found most helpful to have the list view and arrange tracks by folder's location. That way I could manually add "Disc 1", "Disc 2", etc.

It's what I really like about MM, it has so many options and thingies it can be hard to find something in particular but it's always there! That and the fact you can always rely on the forum for help! So thanks again!
