@alsostuck, are you on ios 10.1? I don't think it works on the new devices. At least it doesn't work for me. I try to copy and it just doesn't do anything.

I too hate Itunes but do use it to backup my Iphone4 and keep things up to date.
My issue was with Media Monkey Sync.
After trying various solutions I now use this one which is simple and foolproof.
All my music is stored in one place - Drive M: sub folder Music
My Library in both Media Monkey and Itunes points to the same folder so all file paths are the same.
My Playlist is created in Media Monkey and I do all my work in Media Monkey.
To get my music onto the Iphone 4 I simply export the playlist from Media Monkey and then import that playlist into Itunes.
Now use Itunes to sync what is now an Itunes playlist with the Iphone.
Voila, quick and easy.

CopyTrans

Post by lifeinbeats »

I know this is not ideal, as I love the ease of using MM to sync my iphone, but if you DO go to 5.0, there's a great free program called CopyTrans to sync your music and it works seamlessly with 5.0. It's a pretty simple program. It basically does exactly what MM sync does, with a few extra features. Most of CopyTrans' programs are not free, but CopyTrans Manager is, which is what you need. I'm sorry if posting about other programs goes against MM's forum code. I love MM, but lacking the sync feature is huge (especially for how long it's been going on).

CT has been posted a lot as an alternative. I'm getting very impatient with MM concerning 5.0 myself. It's April and still no resolution. If summer gets near and still nothing, it's time to move on to another program or even iCloud sync full time. At least concerning iOS. Android is still good to go on MM.

That was on Jan 31.... This is almost becoming a joke now. If Copy Trans can do it, it can't be impossible. Maybe it's time to reach out to them or to the open source community. IOS 6 will be out before we have IOS 5 support.

To MediaMonkey stuff:

Last year I bought MediaMonkey Gold - Lifetime License + MediaMonkey AAC/M4A Encoder Plug-in. I bougth them because I wanted to transfer music from my library to my iPhone and because most of my music's are in FLAC format I wanted that they are converted on-fly.

I used MM few months and I was pretty happy with it, but now I don't use it anymore. Why should I ? It just don't work. I paid 46 euros for few months fun.

I have tried to be patient but it seem that you have no idea how to fix it, have you?

One more note: to me Apple is not the one to blame this. My iPhone is working perfectly. It is your software which is not working. For god sake, do something about it.

If you're iPhone was working perfectly it would have been able to sync with all third party applications that can sync to portable devices (particularly those that supported iOS4. In other words Apple would have released information on how to connect with iOS5 freely to all third party developers, but they don't. They purposely change and obscure things so it is as hard as possible to achieve compatibility with Apple devices.

^Well if it's been confirmed that CopyTrans and also jailbreakers can access iOS5's internals, then...

Apple certainly doesn't help but iOS5 apparently CAN be cracked.

It can but those are developers dedicated to Apple Devices, which I would presume means they have a better understanding of how things works. MediaMonkey developers are dedicated to a media application and dabble in Apple Device support. Yelling Open Source isn't always the solution as the licensing might be a problem. It is disappointing that it is taking this long, but Apple makes this a hard thing to accomplish. People will need to draw their own conclusions, some will move away from MediaMonkey, some will move away from Apple Devices and some will patiently wait.

Some of us have waited patiently, and moving away from an apple device is really not an option. Unfortunately their stuff is pretty darn good, and it just works. It is obvious that IOS support for the Mediamonkey developers has become a non priority. At this point "dabbling" in IOS support really just doesn't cut it. The info is obviously out there and I'm sure if they asked the right people they would be more than willing to share a bit of knowledge. A "much closer" and "1-2 weeks" away in January has come and gone by now. Unfortunately those who have ponied up the lifetime license fee for MM and come to rely on it for syncing their devices are out of luck. Quite honestly I wouldn't mind having to pay a little extra for continued IOS support on a regular timely basis. We are already past the halfway point of IOS 5 and still not a peep as to what is going on. When we finally do get IOS 5 syncing, IOS 6 will be here. I guess time will tell but it has become almost a bit of a question as to we will ever see direct IOS syncing again.

^I agree. This was the main reason why I use MM. Very disappointing that it's into April and no solution. This is about 6 months with no current iOS support. I do not want to import all my music into iTunes, it will take me days to fix the tags.

I've just taken a quick look at CopyTrans Manager, and although I can see it useful for editing an iPhone and/or manually loading tracks in, its not a syncing tool. If I edit an MP3 rating on the iphone, I can't see how that will get back either to the original MP3 on the PC, or, how MM would then pickup that change too.

So for me, compared to the inhouse sync that MM used to have, or even the iTunes-plugin script, it doesn't cut it.

I too would've liked to of seen this progress much faster. Maybe the devs can open it up on the forum (create a technical thread) so we can see exactly what the problem is, and then other devs can comment on ideas.

we're going to have to change the title to IOS6 and MM sync soon

according to macrumors, IOS and I-tunes 11 are coming very soon

the plug-in is nice, but I have 40 gig of music and do not have spare hard drive space to utilize it...

CopyTran is only useful for getting music onto my Itouch.....

I really really wish MM developers would issue something.... heck I'd almost accept getting a buggy version of MM that we can all work to resolve issues than having the plug in

Could it be that the devs are waiting on IOS6/11 so they don't have to go through the process again?........until the next time?
