Ipod Nano and Kenwood sync
I have looked for this problem but cannot find anyone else posting this issue. I have a Nano 6th gen and a Kenwood KDC-BT945U. My library is Flac lossless and I am syncing/converting to Wav files to the Nano. I do the sync with MM 4.0. The Ipod works fine with the files. The Kenwood controls the Ipod and also plays the album normally but, the radio cannot do any navigation to any other albums on the Ipod. It says something like "no music data" if I try to change to another album or artist. All play functions and tagging are okay within the album that started playing when I plugged it in. So now I take the same Ipod and use Itunes to add another song. Itunes sees the other ones added by MM fine. Plug it back into the Kenwood and now all of the Kenwood music navigation functions work normally even though MM added most of the files. I have played around with MM settings but no change. I did follow the Ipod sync suggestions at the top of these forums. Maybe MM is writing the files almost right and the Kenwood needs something that is missing that Itunes provides? I'm hoping someone uses their head unit to control their Ipod and has seen this issue. My work around is that I made a 30 second silent mp3(since Itunes won't convert Flac) and just add that one file using Itunes. It's called zzzsilence so I just ignore it and it does not take up any space. The format of the file does not seem to make any difference.

Re: Ipod Nano and Kenwood sync
Update. I do not have to write files with Itunes. I sync with MM, then open Itunes to read the Ipod, then eject. The Kenwood browses the files correctly.

Re: Ipod Nano and Kenwood sync
The files in "iTunes Library.itlp" are different using MM vs Itunes. Most are larger in the MM version. I don't know how to read/extract them to see the difference.

Re: Ipod Nano and Kenwood sync
Update:
This is not a Kenwood issue. My new Sony digital head unit has the same issue. Also if I convert a FLAC file to ALAC using Dbpoweramp and upload it with Mediamonkey only, that Alac file can be played using the head unit, but not the other Wav files.

Re: Ipod Nano and Kenwood sync
Hi
Just stumbled on this thread via Google as I have the same issue.
I've got a Kenwood BT92SD, and have been using it fine with my 4g iPod Touch for the last 6+ months. It was synced using the MM iTunes plugin prior to v4, but since v4 it's been synced using native MM. As I say, this iPod hasn't been a problem.
I bought an iPod Nano 6g cheap off eBay (sold as faulty, i took a punt and luckily it's only the lock switch that's knackered. Not needed if it's just stuck in the glove box!). I bought it as I was fed up of plugging/unplugging the Touch every time I used the car, so wanted something I could leave permanently in the car.
It syncs just fine using MM, but I get the same issue as you when trying to navigate - "no music data". Luckily I found your suggestion. I now sync using MM, but immediately after fire up iTunes and hit the sync button there (no need to upload a dummy audio file). It appears to do nothing, but it does...! Upon connecting to the Kenwood, I now have the proper navigation.
I just find it curious that the extra step isn't required for the Touch... It may be because I've not updated the iOS on it for a while though.
