MediaMonkey 4.1.0.1652 use 50% CPU every 20 seconds

Post by nonob »

Hi,
I have an issue with MediaMonkey 4.1.0.1652 on my Windows XP SP3 OS.

It use about 50% of CPU ressource each 20 seconds, during 10 seconds.

I used process explorer to try to know more about the process:

Image

it seems to be the "d_WMDM.dll" file that caused this issue, and if i'm right, it's file used for portable device synchronisation.:

I have no device connected and i unchecked all my devices lines in the MM preferences:

Thanks for your help.

Hi, thank you for reporting, I cannot replicate, but could you please check whether this issue appears in MM 4.0.7 too?

I have a suspicion that it could be related to http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=9977

Additionally it would be useful if you could generate debug log using DbgView, item 4b here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=6&t=341

Hi,
I didn't have 4.0.7 anymore, i installed 4.1 instead of it.

What's the better way to try ? Should i install 4.0.7 in portable or should i uninstall 4.1 then install 4.0.7 ?

You can install 4.0.7 to separate folder (doesn't need to be Portable) and you don't need to uninstall 4.1

Additionally it would be useful if you could generate debug log using DbgView and build 4.1.0.1652, item 4b here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=6&t=341

So MM4.0.7 works with no anormal CPU usage.
I go back to 4.1.0.1652 and anormal CPU usage is always present, this is the dbgview log captured during anormal CPU usage:

Hi :)
BTW what are the (H:, K:, J:, I:, L:) drives? I guess it is a SD card reader?
Yes, an internal card reader.

I unplugged it and i have no more anormal CPU usage with MM :)

I tried with 2 anothers card reader, one external multi card, and one usb stick SD reader: Same issue than with my internal.

So i leave my internal unplugged and i will plug my sd usb stick only when needed.

Si i can uninstall my 4.0.7 version and continue to use 4.1 but when i go to uninstaller manager, i have only my 4.0.7, no more 4.1 :(

What is the right way: reinstall 4.1 again on the old 4.1 folder, then delete the 4.0.7 folder ?
Thank you, tracked as: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=11203

Solution seems to be to either:
a) revert the perodical check from 0009977
b) re-call the device enumeration less often or (instead of periodically every 30 sec.) call it after 30 seconds, then after 1 minute, then 2 minutes, then 4 minutes and so on.
About solution b, does it mean i will have the same issue (50% CPU usage) but less often ?
If yes, i don't think it is a good solution, personnaly, i don't want anormal CPU usage at all.
Maybe a button to manually recheck portable device could be a solution ?

thanks a lot.

You can just delete the folder where you installed 4.0.7.

Re the solution, you seem to be right, I changed the solution back to a) in build 1656 , i.e. reverted the periodic check.
