Is Play > Level Playback Volume enabled?

If you run Tools > Level Track Volume there is no need to run Analyze Volume (either before or after).

So both with the option enabled and disabled you see this? Did you set Level Playback/Sync volume to per Track or per Album under Tools > Options > Volume Leveling?

Disable Only analyze files with unknown Leveling Adjustment under Tools > Options > Volume Leveling and run Tools > Analyze Volume on some files. Then play those files and see if they sound better (make sure it is set to per Track).

You do need to enable Play > Level Playback Volume once you re-analyzed for any effect.

Ok so after trying on different computers and uninstalling reinstalling , releveling volume selecting everything you have suggested deselecting everything you have suggested I have made very small improvements but the problem still exists , in some cases on some songs there is as high as 10db difference to the low side and on others there can be a 15 db difference to the loud side the majority of the songs is all the same volume , it acts as if the leveled volume is not saving to the file , all of my songs are 128mb mp3 I have 32 gb of music and love MM but this is driving insane .

Here is something to try:

I suggest trying an external program (I use MP3Gain which writes leveling information into the mp3 file). Occasionally it reports that it cannot level certain tracks because the file is in use by another app or because the file is corrupted. Most mp3 players will satisfactorily play files that are corrupted somewhat. Test it on files that MM does not handle to see if errors are reported during the operation.

Here is a link to MP3Gain. It is freeware

I have noticed this on some tracks and here is the reason (as near as I can figure).

1) If you have an album that is mixed correctly, all tracks will be basically the same base volume. When you level the tracks by album, the whole thing will change volume slightly based on the volume difference between the album average volume and the set volume (89dB by default). If your album was either mixed poorly or is a compilation of some kind (and not remixed), the volumes could vary dramatically. In this case, some tracks could be so quiet that you will have a difficult time hearing them while others might be fine.

2) Another possibility is that a track has an average volume and a peak volume that are very different. If MM relevels the track based on the peak volume (as it should to avoid clipping), then the majority of the track could be too quiet.

I'm not sure which of these I have a problem with, but on one of my NIN albums, at least one track is so quiet that I can't hear anything for the first couple minutes. At that point, it gets pretty loud. I believe that whoever mixed the track and/or album was on something!
