Hi!
I got a problem with synchronizing playlists to my iPod Mini. On my PC there are several folders with each one album. In every folder is a m3u-playlist-file stored. In the synchronization options for the iPod I've selected "Only synchronize the following" and specified my main-mp3-folder. Also "Copy .m3u-playlists" ist selected and "\Playlists\" is specified as output-directory.
When I connect my iPod and use auto-synchronization all track-files where copied to the device but not the playlist files. Why that? Do I make anything wrong?

.m3u playlists and iPod
The Playlists configuration is misleading in the sense that it does not apply when the iPod plugin is used (since there is no need for .m3u playlists on an iPod).
We plan on tweaking the synchronization UI for 2.6 to eliminate this confusion.

Re: .m3u playlists and iPod
Hi Rusty!
But when there is no need for playlist files on my iPod, why doesn't show my iPod any playlists in the display? I can only select my music by album, artist and title. Not by playlist. A friend of mine snychrnozises his iPod Mini with iTunes. He has got playlists in the display and long track names are scrolled from left to right. I would be very happy when my iPod would do this also.

Ipod Paylists
I have recently developed the same problem of losing my playlists on my
30 G iPod photo. playlists have worked fine for 8-10 months with various versions of MM Gold up through 2.5.1. However I recently installed the Beta II, and now all the songs load but no playlists. I reinstalled 2.5.1 and the playlists are back. I hope this will not continue in future versions of MM. Having playlists is a tremendous asset

iPod Playlists
Jiri,
I installed Debug_2_5_943 and the problem was gone. It must have been a bad install of 2.5.943 the first time around. Thanks again for your help and a wonderful program.

playlist support absent
I'm a fairly recent MM convert and enjoy it emmensely... except an issue with "freezing" my system while reading in files over a network (such as draging a group of songs to the playlist from a network share), and the minimal playlist support. (Creating a local playlist and choosing to sync it just created duplicate files on the ipod.)
For really large music libraries where "syncing" is impossible, manual control of adding songs and playlist entries is the only feasable solution.
The "ideal" support was in the old ml_ipod plug-in for the old version of winamp (before they mucked it up with the so called "built in" (i.e. crippled) ipod support that conflicts with this great plug in).
The original plug-in provides a method to make add/rename/delete playlists, then:
- drag a song from anywhere in the ipod to a list and it adds it to the list
- drag a song from your PC music library to the ipod list and it adds the song to the ipod AND adds an entry to that list.
- delete a song from the ipod and any playlist entry referencing that file is removed
I hoping to see some portion of this friendly control in a new MM release!

Rusty, you mentioned:
I hope that this is not the tweaking of the UI that you mention as .m3u playlists are necessary if you don't use the normal ipod firmware (I use rockbox). I know that I can probably use the generic usb plugin to get this working but I ALSO use the ipod firmware (dual boot) so I need that working too.
I hope that in 2.6 this will be tweaked some more so that the copy m3u playlists option is described more to prevent confusion but is still nonetheless available for the power users.
please see this url below where I've discussed it in another thread:

Dale.
I've recently found in version 2.5.3.968 that for ipods, the ability to copy .m3u playlists at all is disable to prevent confusion as they are not supported on normal ipod firmware. We plan on tweaking the synchronization UI for 2.6 to eliminate this confusion.
