Two iPods now in recovery loop after using Media Monkey

Post by MacFett »

I just went a bought my wife a new iPod and then took her old one to replace mine. I downloaded and installed MM and copied her music onto her new iPod and then my music onto her old iPod. Once everything was done I clicked to eject and her old one ejected fine but then said no music, not even her old music. I reconnected it and could see it all in the folders and MM was reporting it all as 9gigs of other files. Meanwhile her new ipod would not eject it kept saying it was busy. I closed everything on my computer except for MM and let it sit for about half an hour still said it was busy and then when I clicked okay to dismiss the message MM closed and now both iPods are stuck in recovery.

I had to install iTunes to restore and as soon as it completes the restore on the new it says it detects an iPod in recovery and I have to restore it to be able to use it again. On the old one it is still in recovery but I have to hold center+menu for 12 seconds before the computer will see it again.

Does anyone know how to get this to actually restore?

Which version of MediaMonkey and what models iPod.

If the latest MediaMonkey is in use I suggest capturing the sync in a debug log (step 4b) and send the log to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=12&t=69

I've opened a bug report for this too: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=12164

The newest version of MM. I just downloaded it 20 minutes after purchasing one of the iPods. They are both classics, one is an 80gb the other is 160gb. I returned the brand new one and got a replacement. Since I have itunes installed now I used it to add music.

I'm several hours away from moving 2000 miles (which is why I wanted to get the iPods going) so I will have to trouble shoot more in several days or if I get a chance in a hotel.

Thanks.
