if you change disk # for a CD MM forgets it

Post by frankenpod »

I insert a cd of a two-cd set. MM recognises it but doesn't recognise it as having a cd number. I set the disk number (to '2', say). But if I then switch view to look at the library or something, when I switch back again MM has forgotten the disk number again.

This doesn't happen if I change other fields, e.g. if I correct the spelling of the track name.

can't replicate, are you editing MMW library or files itself?

It's the same for all metadata in the Details and Classification tabs. Also, Artist, Album, Date, and Genre are only saved if all tracks are set to the same value. From what I can see it appears to be a limitation around CDPlayer.ini.

Are we talking about the same thing?

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that it doesn't remember such changes if you, say, quit MM and restart later, or take the cd out and put it back later. The problem I'm having is that it doesn't remember changes to disk number if you simply leave the cd in the drive but for a brief moment switch to a different view (e.g. look at your library instead of the cd).

This definitely doesn't happen for changes to track names, say (haven't tested with other tags).

Yes, we are talking about the same thing. The detail is not saved so when you open the CD node again it is lost, whether that is by closing MM or just navigating away from the CD node briefly.

Track names are saved, and Artist, Album, Date and Genre are saved as long as all tracks have the same value. Other fields are not saved.
