Microsoft Office 2007

Post by julzcompufreek »

As many of you may already know, a free download of Microsoft Office 2007 is available for download from the Microsoft.

This is a whole new change to Microsoft Office with a full GUI makeover. As well as this, Microsoft Office 2007 now uses a new file format, called OpenXML, which is a compressed file format (an 'x' is added on to the end of the file extension, for example the previous .doc extension is now .docx). It is said that these files can be up to 75% smaller that the existing files.

I was interested particulary with Microsoft Access since MM uses it for its database. I was thinking, if Microsoft Access .mdb files are going to be smaller, this might make a change to how MM runs. Apparently these OpenXML files also load quicker than existing files, so maybe we might be able to speed up MM and make the .mdb files smaller.

Any thoughts?
