I have a question about sync a data base between two computers.
My music database is on a network storage and has about 100 thousand songs. I have been using Media Monkey for many years but have not had many problems. Now using 5.1.0.2811
Life time Lic.
1. Two computer using the same data Base only main computer does all the corrections and additions to the database
2. I use “Tag and Rename” to do all my corrections and additions to the NAS database from my main computer. Then use and rescan from Media Monkey to adjust the database
3. On my second Computer I just add and rescan the Nas Database to get all the corrections. I do not do any corrections or additions from this computer.
4. I do not get the same results from Computer 1 as I do from Computer 2
5. What are the correct options I should use on Computer1 and Computer 2?
6. To get the same results from both computers

Re: Two Computers same NAS database Snync
Hi,
I am curious where are the files stored first or second PC or on NAS and how PCs access those files eg. One locally and one mapped drive or thru UNC paths (shared folders) or both thru mapped drive letters?
Secondly, it is unclear do both PCs access same MM5.DB of each one have its own local database?

Re: Two Computers same NAS database Snync
Peke. the files are stored on my NAS and accessed from 2 different computers. I have cured the Problem. I now use "Tag and Rename" for making all corrections on my Music Files then I use Media Monkey to fix any problems that come up. After all is Fixed, I copy the MM5 database to the second computer and everything is fine.

Re: Two Computers same NAS database Snync
Hi,
Hmmm, I have similar setup and do it bit different. That is why I asked you all those questions.
I have all of my music on NAS too, Scan them on one PC and rest of them are just clients accessing same library and sync with their devices. Only difference is that my MM5.DB is located on NAS and all PCs read that same DB directly from NAS. Unfortunately MM5.DB is not fully robust enough to have all PCs access it at same time (limitations of DB format) and we are working on that to find the way to make it possible, but if only one PC access it at time it is perfect, no DB copy and each change is immediately available on other PCs.
One thing I do not understand is what Tag&Rename do that MM can't and you need that additional steps of re scanning files which potentially clear playing counters?
It is very possible that we are missing something, so I would really like to understand your way of using MM and enjoying your music.

Re: Two Computers same NAS database Snync
I did not realize I could do this!
Re: Two Computers same NAS database Snync
Each time you use MM you can learn something new. MMS was created to bridge that gap and as open source on github anyone can contribute its success. For now you can always use MM5 in this way. I would suggest at least full 1 Gigabit connection if not 2.5 or even 10 GBit Wired connection.
