Can't able to launch MediaMonkey!

Re: Can't able to launch MediaMonkey!
Can you try to disable your FW for a minute and try to run 3106 (just to be sure it's not related to your FW settings) ?
EDIT: Also can you try to test 3102-3105 builds where it starts to fail ?

Hey Rusty!rusty wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 7:06 am Hi,
Can you tell me whether the issue occurs with build 3101? If not, does it occur with 3103?
Thanks!
Rusty
I just tried, build 3101 as a portable install. I am able to launch the application without issue.

I can't launch Build 3103, Build 3104 and Build 3106.
I can launch Build 3101.
Re: Can't able to launch MediaMonkey!
So all 2024.1 builds fails .. even with disabled FW ? I will check all our changes whether it's somehow related to this issue.

Yes, I have disabled Firewall temporally when testing.
As mentioned, I can't launch Build 3103, Build 3104 and Build 3106. BUT I can launch Build 3101.

At dev's
WSALookupServiceBegin failed with: 0
Is 0 the actual error code? Or is there something wrong with getting the real error code? For me usually 0 mean succes. So the returning error code does not seem right for me.
If there is an error that in that part of the code, to retrieve to real error code. If that issue would be solved, that would make tracing the issue faster. Suggest to start there if that logic around the error code is correct.

Is btw Notion from the certificate makenotion.com the same as notion.com?
For me notion.com is on a malware blacklist, so i cannot access the site.

Re: Can't able to launch MediaMonkey!
I have found that exact problem. Over many installs of beta versions over many releases I found that the firewall of the MM PC had a handful of older MM rules. In my particular case MM was working but sync to MMA over the network was not. I deleted all of the MM rules that I could find in the Windows firewall and then did a MM reinstall, which resolved the sync problem. Even though you don't seem to have a sync problem, removing the old firewall rules appears to be a MM upgrade issue that requires a manual solution, and might make the install behaviour be what you expect.
MM 2024.1.0.3103 non-debug (WEF 21 Jan 2025, Portable Mode), Gold lifetime license, user since 2009.
Currently 28K files. Library and music files are on a separate partition (E:\) on external USB drive.
Windows Surface Book (Original), i5, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD.
Win10 Pro 64 bit, update: 22H2 19045.5131
MMA 2.0.1.1214, Android 13 on Nokia XR20, music files on SD card.

However this particular issue has nothing to do with firewall.MattTown wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:18 amI have found that exact problem. I agree, have mm blocked 100% to allow lan/internet access on some machines, and it works like a charm. (ofcouse mm can't access lan on internet and do such things, but mm does not need internet/lan access to start up.)monkeyfan1970 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:37 am However this particular issue has nothing to do with firewall.

Re: Can't able to launch MediaMonkey!
I have just tested MediaMonkey for Windows 2024.1.0.3108 RC-1. I able to launch the application without any issue.
I believe the bug is fixed.
Thanks.
