1. I have put in a average songs rating to the algorithm to respect when choosing a new song from MusicIP.

Great.

2. You did a modification to always pick the first song returned by MusicIP, instead of picking a random one. With that modification. each HTTPREquest to MusicIp with the Track A was always returning the same song at the first position, cause HTTPRequests caches the requests to be faster. so the same response is always returned. So i did a modification, so the requests is not cached, and its not always the same song returned.

I wondered about that. I thought it was because of the MusicIP settings I had were so conservative that each request generated the same suggestions but I like your explanation.

Excuse for my english is not perfect, don't hesitate if you don't understand.

No apology needed. I only speak english and some compiler languages...

You could be right about the not accessable files, I recently moved some flac's of my ext drive cause I was running out of room (again =/ ).

I suspect it may have something to do with non-ascii characters in the filename and/or path, but I can't really tell from the log.

I've modified the script to not add more tracks once the maximum length has been reached.

ElGringo - I've implemented the code you sent, thank for that. From what I understand, the MusicMagicDJ can be set to maintain the moving average of the Now Playing playlist at a minimum Rating level.

Eg: Set the Min Avg Rating value to 4
Add song1.mp3 - rating 5

MusicMagicDJ will pick a song with a rating >= 3 because (3+5)/2 = 4
MusicMagicDJ picks song2.mp3 - rating 4, moving avg = 4+5/2 = 4.5

And so on.

I think this is right.

I'm getting the error 12029 also. It looks to me like the service quits for some reason (so maybe a MusicIP issue). Anybody else have any clues about the 12029 error? It works for a while then quits.

It looks so far like I have better luck running MusicIP as a server/service.

I don't think this has been mentioned in this thread but it is much cleaner. On MusicIP's forums it has been mentioned that the "headless" version of MusicIP is more reliable.

Don't forget to copy down the mmm.ini and edit. I just tried to synchronize the settings in the script and MusicIP as much as possible. . .I turned off everything but the API obviously.

This is a great script. The problem is that I keep getting disconnected from the API service. I am not the most technically literate person. If someone could give me some advice I'd appreciate it.

I go to preferences in the MusicIP mixer. Under services I select "API" and "Start".

Everthing works fine for a few songs, and then it disconnects and the script starts selecting random tracks.

I've tried selecting a different port, (I make sure to have the same port selected both in MusicIP Mixer and MagicMusicDJ) but that doesn't seem to help.

When I go to http://localhost/port# in internet explorer, I don't get anything in the browser window.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Its possibly a problem with the Mixer service getting shut down.

You might need to un-install/re-install the service.

More info @ Musicip.

Hi!

The guys at MusicIP have just released a standalone plugin of MusicIP which (suppossedly) works on Winamp. Since a lot of Winamp plugins work on MediaMonkey I downloaded and installed the plugin but, expectably, can't get it to work. The standalone plaugin sounds like a great idea (better than having a server/service running) so I wonder if some of you guys who have been tinkering with MusicIP and MediaMonkey for a while have any idea if this script could be adapted to work with the MusicIP standalone (winamp) plugin.

Any suggestions are welcome.

The MIP winamp plugin in is a ML (media library) plugin for winamp 5.x versions.

MM only supports winamp 2.x input/output/general/visualization plugins.

The MIP plugin won't work with MM.

Hey Hey,

I've been a long time MusicIP user (even before it was named that!) and I believe this plugin has made me switch media players from winamp to mediamonkey. Fantastic job! but.....

All day yesterday I was hearing the same artists within a very small time frame. I believe I heard the Cure about 5 or 6 times out of 10 songs. As time went by, VAST became the populat artist, often playing one after the other.

Anyhow, today I have a new issue, only 1 track is being added to the playlist at a time, so I have the currently playing track, and one queued up, although I should have 5 tracks queued, as per my settings. Any thoughts?

my bad!

It seems I unchecked the "Enable AutoDJ" button

duh, it works fine now.....

However, the duplicate artists is still occuring. I've changed a few parameters so we'll see how it goes.

As for the latest version (1.8 I think), does the "Restrict Artist" value override what I have set in MusicIP?
