Error ripping CD's with a data track at the end

Post by Guest »

I am ripping several CD's at the moment. Some of these CD's have a data track at the end. This data track contains multimedia. The CD's are NOT copy protected. What happens is that MediaMonkey adds the length of the data track to the length of the last audio track on the CD. The length of the last audio track is miscalculated and MediaMonkey tries to rip past the end of the last audio track, resulting in reading errors.
Could you please look into this?

The same happens when playing so-called protected cd's (for instance: Kraftwerk - Tour De France or Iron Maiden - Dance Of Death), the last track gives the wrong time as it adds the 'protection' software to the latest track.

Playing the last tracks also result in an error, but after you have heard the song and when the 'protection' area is reached. (for more information check some of my other threads regarding this subject:

I haven't ever seen such a problem with any of my audio CDs. In case anyone would like to mail me such CD, let me know. However, maybe even information about Table of Content of such CD could be enough. A bit advanced user having MS Access installed can send it to me this way: open MediaMonkey.mdb file, open table 'Medias', find the audio CD in the list and e-mail me content of 'TOCData' field.

Thanks,
Jiri

Jiri,
I will do and play these faulty cd's again thru MM (I can't burn though, don't have Nero). Where do I send this info to, to the forum or to a private address?

UPDATE: 15 July 2004
I have now send a test report to you, Jiri

It would be enough if you e-mail it to me, we can post results of our private discussion here then.

Thanks,
Jiri

Ok, the problem was located and fixed. For your information, the lead-out and lead-in wasn't subtracted when an audio track was followed by a data track, which added 2:30 length to the last audio track. It will be ok in the next release.

In the meantime, I have used Exact Audio Copy to rip such music CD's with data files. Has worked like a charm.
