Has anything been done about this?

I like mattisse example and hope it will be fixed. No idea to make mediamonkey better for classical music and make stupid changes like removing album artist.

Love the monkey by the way. Got a friend who just bought a porkchop ipod (the 80 gb version). He been having a lot of questions and I allways answer him with "the monkey can do that"...

Are there any updates on that subject? Mainly working with classical music, I also got *very* confused with the mapping of ID-tags for the classical genre.

The tag "Album Artist" gets obviously mapped to and displayed on track level as "Orchestra". So internally (within MM3) both tags seem to share the same data field (orchestra is also not available as a column title on the main display) .

This is confusing when entering, for example, a piano player as album artist. On track level that name then is displayed under "Orchestra". This makes no sense in this situation, because an orchestra usually consists of more than one artist :-).

If "Album Artist" and "Orchestra" really share the same tag data element within the database, then the "Album Artist" should *please* be indicated also as "Album Artist" on the track properties for the classical genre! You may add a hint there that this field should preferably be used for the name of the orchestra (this would not work however for sampler CDs, where multiple orchestras are involved).

Yes, this is extremely confusing. I think the developers have taken a step in the right direction to help us Classical fans out, but much more needs to be done.

Also, it drives me crazy that there is still no auto-suggest when typing names into the composer field. I get tired of having to type "Beethoven, Ludwig van (1770-1827)" over and over!!!!

Classical music

Dale,

Re.
album artist -> remains same
artist -> composer
addition of orchestra
addition of conductor
The most significant problem with your proposal is that it would be problematic when it comes to synchronization. One of the key requirements of the original proposal was that it be compatible with most MP3 devices (i.e. the iPod), and the iPod can navigate by Composer but not by Orchestra.

Re. autofill, that'll be added in the next build.

Re. means of choosing whether a track is classical and/or having more classical genres, we're debating how to handle that internally.
