The MediaMonkey of photo managers? I think not. Picajet has a pretty interface, but otherwise, it is a disaster. The really stupid thing about picajet is that it does not use the standard Metadata that is stored in the photos. Therefore, you cannot migrate existing date to or from PicaJet. This is extraordinarily stupid.
MM on the other hand, relies on the standard metadata. Therefore, that data is not lost if you migrate to or from MM. This is extraordinarily smart.
I wish I could manage my photos with MM. It does such an incredible job. (Did I mention I think MM is one of the best programs ever written - bar none?_
I use Microsoft Digital Image Suite (DIS) and I love the "labels" feature where you can add keywords to images. this information is stored in the standard "Keywords" metadata field in the photo that any software can use (except for really stupid programs like Picajet that do not use this information!) All my pictures have been labeled accordingly. DIS also has a nice feature that quickly renames photos using dates and such, and I have seen other utilities that can also do this.
However, no other program that I've seen let you rename the photos using the "Keyword" information. That is, if the picture has keywords such as "Bob;Mary;Mexico", there should be a way to rename the photo(s) using "Bob Mary Mexico.JPG". Make sense? This seems like the single most useful option for renaming photos, and yet none of the photo or file renaming programs seem to be able to do this. I've looked at about 100.
I really wish there was such a thing as a MediaMonkey of photo managers!
MM rocks!!
