For an albumart now playing window, I would guess it would like exactly the same as the other albumart nodes, except it uses the now playlist and refreshes automatically whenever tracks add/remove (ie via scrobblerdj/album/autodj/etc.

Theoretically you could also do something similar to Psyxonova's? advanced track info app?

Maybe even a combination.. ie show the track art for entire now playing list, with a 'current playing track' section with more details.

Heck, another idea for the current track would be to include the lyrics/comments and other commonly requested metadata!

But all I was thinking initially was just art for all the now playing list! 8)

Sort Order

Hey,

Great work on the new version of Browse By Album Art. It's almost perfect.

However, the sort order specificed in the options is not being used when displaying Art By Genre. Otherwise it all looks great.

Thanks again.

The sort order works fine for me. What is not happening as you expect?

Regarding the sorting order...

Under Options>BrowseByArt Settings I have specified the Sort Order as Artist/Ascending. When I navigate to the BrowseByArt node, at the top level the sort order is applied correctly.

However, when I navigate to a lower level such as BrowseByArt>Genre, the Sort Order specified in the options does not apply. Instead, it uses a default sort order of Album and then Artist. I think this should be Artist then Album, much like the standard tree nodes are sorted. Otherwise, this should use the choice specified in the options.

Is the sort order in the options only there for determining how the top level BrowseByArt node is sorted?

I think changing the order to Artist then Album is more intuitive as it groups albums by the same artist together. This should only vary from this order when browsing by album (as the user make a specific choice to sort by album).

Hope this clarifies my initial post.

Hi!

Maybe I have not recognized something, but...

When I install the script and start MM my Antivirus Program (Symantec Norton AV) stops the Computer and gives me a warnig of a malicious script!
(I copied the code fram this topic)

What does that mean?

greetings

@srweal - I will check this out and sort this for the next version.

@sammawatt - this is because my script connects to MediaMonkey. Your antivirus is wary of an action like this, but I promise you that my script does nothing malicious! It just needs to connect to MediaMonkey so that it can read the database and settings.

@srweal - having reread your post properly I can see this is not something that needs to be fixed. The nodes are used to override the settings in the options pane. They allow you to quickly choose different settings without having to use the options pane. The options pane sortorder applies to the main node. Are you saying you would like a second sortorder?

I've just read back through and noticed a couple of comments I didn't answer.

@runtherisk - there is no event to link to to create images when tracks are added so for now you will need to edit the properties to trigger an update, or trigger a cache, so that these images are created.

@Sammy20 - [AMENDED]

@Teknojnky - if you edit the library via a script an update is not triggered. This is why your blank albums are remaining blank.

@Sammy20 - the issue of pixelated images when displaying anything other than 200x200. This is really a general problem with resizing jpegs, which is done by Internet Explorer, not by my script. I haven't done testing to see whether a 150x150 image displayed at 150x150 is better than a 200x200 image displayed at 150x150, but my guess would be that the difference it negliable. I presume your problem is occuring when you try to display smaller images as well as when trying to display larger images?

Yes, but I've only tested it with smaller images than 200x200. It just doens't look as nice, so I just leave it at 200x200.

Something I just notice as well, is the aspect ratio. Would it be possible to set an option to keep the original AR of the image, and set the border size in settings.

oh I think that would be a cool option as well. To have have borders around each album art.

edit: Just got your pm, I will try out what you said.

When you say a border around each album art - do you mean just around the image, or around the whole album (text+image)?

Aspect ratio is possible, but complicates matters, especially when it comes to aligning the images. Were you looking for a fixed width, fixed height, or the option for either?

Border just around the picture. Being able to specify the line thickness, and colour.

For the aspect ratio - I was thinking just set the default size say 200x200, and then each image is to fit within that size without stretching. Like MM does in the album art view.

Anyone else had an issue with deleted album art still showing up in album art? I don't have a good example to use at the moment as my collection is constantly in flux, but what I have seen is exampled here....

I have a couple of songs by the same artist, and the album is a "Greatest Hits" album, complete with greatest hits album cover embedded within the MP3's. I delete the album name and then update from Amazon to get the actual names and cover arts from the original albums. Since this was a greatest hits compilation, the two songs are actually from two different albums. Now there are two images in the album art for each of those songs, "greatest hits" and the new correct album cover. I delete the "greatest hits" image and keep the new ones.

What I have seen is that the songs now show up as two different albums in album art window (which is correct), but they are still using the "greatest hits" album art, which means that I see the "greatest hits" album art two times in the album art branch. The album names are correct, but the images haven't been updated.

Sorry I don't have steps for perfect reproduction, but this is what I recall.

@MarineBrat - What I imagine is happening is that the art at track level is different, but the art at album level is still the greatest hits. Does this sound possible?

@Sammy20 - I don't think this aspect ratio thing is going to be possible. The reason for this is that the images are not created at the same time as the page, they are already created. So when you add the images to the page you need to specify the dimensions. So each image needs to have the same dimensions, which does not allow for images with different widths and heights. Does this make sense?
