I went through my library and got the album art for almost all of it. But on the ipod, less than a third of them are displaying the art. How do I need to save it in MM for it to work with the ipod? Right now, I saved most of them in the album directory. Do I need I need to save them in the file itself? That does seem wasteful, so I wouldn't do it if there was another way.

Does the Creative program have an eject? That will tell it the player is no longer in use.

AAC autoconversion possible?

Post by Overzeetop »

This seems to be possible but elusive:

I just got an ipod (20gb, for the car) and have about 90-100GB of FLAC tunes I'd like to sync with it. Thing is, I'm not really thrilled with 96-128kb MP3s, and would prefer to use one of the new/better AAC/MP4 encoders and auto-convert the library so it all fits with room to spare. I've done some ABX with (nero?) aac at 96kbps and was very happy with the results for portable apps.

Anyway, under auto-conversion, the "device" supports AAC, M4A, MP3, MP4, WAV, but the conversion options are only MP3, WMV, OGG, WAV, and FLAC.

It appears MM can read AAC, but not write it. Is this a limitation of the "base" package and are there encoders available to allow the auto-conversion at this point. MM's website is terribly out of date (focusing on development...that's good) so it's hard to determine what can and can't be done, and where to go to get stuff.

FWIW, I have MM gold 2.5.5.998 perpetual upgrade. I couldn't find this under a search. I really don't mess too much with MM, so any time I try to do something "new" it's a painful process of re-learning all the "extensions" and "work-around-plugins" because I spend so little time on te nuts and bolts.

Any simple solution? Impossible right now?

Impossible now but will be possible with Mediamonkey 3.0. It is currently in Alpha stage.

Hi, currenly i have a ipod 30gb video and syn my songs with media monkey and podcasts via itunes. The only way i can sync tv shows is to drag them to the ipod in itunes. If i try and sync them the same as i would with the podcasts that is click the sync all part in itunes under tv shows in the ipod it gives me the message "Are you sure you want to sync tv shows? All existing songs and tv shows on the ipod will be removed and be replaced with tv shows from your itunes library.

Is there a way we can stop this happening or am i doing something wrong? I dont wanna be dragging them all the time.. i want the tv shows and movies to sync automatically.

Thanks

Rhys

Hi, I followed the steps you listed patiently from 1-16, but after I synced my entire media monkey music collection to the ipod (and the music shows up on the F drive when viewing it in media monkey). step 17 is to open itunes and then right click on the ipod image and sync it. itunes is not allowing me to do this. it says i have 54 gigs of 'other' material on my ipod (almost filling my 60gig ipod). but when i eject the ipod to play the music, it does not appear on the ipod. please help! i love media monkey and it'd love to use it with my ipod.

yeah so i followed almost all of the steps besides making a backup of my iTunes because i dont want to and i already have converted the songs i bought from iTunes with a plugin onto mediamonkey so im good on that and everything is just fine on MediaMonkey but when I try to synch with my video ipod it first sais that there is no space on my ipod and it actually is completely empty and ther is nothing on that ipod except for pictures and it asks me to continue and i say yes and it does go through the whole process of synching and then i disconect it (in mediamonkey) then i physically disconnect the ipod from the computer and there is still nothing on there...help please.

iPod Database corrupted..maybe badly

Post by Guest »

Hi everyone,

Seemed like a good place to make this post....

The last time my ipod was okay, I was building some more playlists on it. After ejecting it though, i found zero playlists, zero songs, zero videos...etc...My photos where still there, but all my important stuff (music & video) was lost on from the database. ....& It was only just 6months ago that the ipod completely crashed & did the same thing.

The files were still there, but since i use my iPod as my only source to keep my music, this time I've encountered some problems.....

When i unhid all the media files so that I could copy them to my hard drive, during my copying i kept encountering "An error occured copying 'Filename': The parameter is incorrect (87)". So instead of copying 50Gb's of media files in one swoop, it would stop after about 5Gb of copying & then no longer be able to READ the ipod afterwards. Even teh files taht copied over properly. After a disconnect & reconnect of the ipod, i would have access to the folders on the ipod again. Thus i'm continually disconnecting & reconnecting & coping as large a chunk as possible to my hard drive until i get the same error message above...at which point i have to disconnect again....All very time consuming!!

Has anyone encountered this before & have anything to add or suggest?

Once i get all my music backed up, then i'm assuming it's the databse that's corrupted. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to repair the database without having to load everything back to the ipod again?

I'm looking & seeing htat Poddox & MediaMonkey both repair databases, but would like some users' input on performance & reliability if possible to help me make a decision as to which one would be good to use, esp. since i've got videos in there too.

Much appreciated....

Im not sure if anyone has answered this question for you but this is what i did. right-click on a song from the album. click properties. click the album art tab. make sure that all of your art is defined ie, front cover, backcover, etc. if that doesn work make sure you save album art to tag

I downloaded the MP4 plugin, put it in the plugin directory and blammo! everything worked. It was that easy.
But what does the MP4 plugin allow you to do, just play MP4s? How does it affect synchronization to an iPod Video?
