Do keys work when MM is Maximized? And you you have one play/pause key or have separate play and pause keys?
I have a combined Play/Pause key. But there's no problem with that one - it works fine.
All my MM keys work, except the Next key, whether MM is Maximised or not, and whether MM has focus or not.
The Next key only works when MM has focus, and it works whether MM is Maximised or Normal.
When MM does not have focus, the Next key does not work whether MM is Maximised, Normal, or Minimised.

OK That was I wanted to hear. Thanks we will need to fix that as soon as i find keyboard model that replicates the problem. All three of keyboards works without problems.

FWIW in my case
none of the multimedia keys (Previous, Play/Pause, Next, Stop) work, regardless of whether MM is maximized or not. They do function properly with all other applications, as they did with MM 2.5.

Sure do.
'Next' multimedia key doesn't work

To clarify a bit here.
Seems that uninstalling MM doesn't always properly clear registry entries made for hotkeys. We're working on this [3793].
Mememe: could it be that 'Next' hotkey that you remapped isn't enabled Globally (and that's why it only works when MM is in focus)?

That's embarrassing.
Yes, Rusty, that was the case. Thanks

I just tried manually deleting all registry entries containing the string 'mediamonkey' and reinstalling (ver 1098) but this made no difference, multimedia keys are still not functional. I'm guessing that the registry entries in question are not identifiable in this manner?

Same problem for me. I have an Acer Aspire 5670 notebook and the four multimedia keys near my keybord don't work. They used to do in my 2.5 version but not in the actual 3.0.0.1098 (both clean installation or not).
I tied the hotkey setup from the Options menu suggested some posts ago, but still not working.
Only Vol+ and Vol- work correctly.
Below some stuff from SysInfo:
Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
(101 or 102 keys)
Function keys: 12
Driver: c:\windows\system32\drivers\i8042prt.sys (5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158), 52,38 KB (53.632 Byte), 19/08/2004 5.00)
Ideas?

I did a clean install of MM 1098.
My Logitech G11 suddenly didn't do forward/next anymore.
Looking through the Tools > Options > Hotkeys section I noticed the following:
Multimedia: Play/Pause, Multimedia: Previous, and Multimedia: Stop are present. There is no such entry for Multimedia: Next.
When I went to create a new hotkey with hotkey 'Next' and action: Multimedia: Next MM came back with a warning stating that 'Next' was already bound to action 'Edit: Find more from same Album'.
Cancelled, went to fix the action for Next, applied and all's working as it should.

When I did my clean install of the current version of MM, that was also the case with me: the Next key was assigned to a Find More function.
It does look like the defaul key bindings for one or more keys aren't what they should be.

I believe that there are two separate problems being discussed in this thread. In one issue there is a simple problem with the default key binding causing a problem with only the 'Next' key, and in the other none of the multimedia keys work. This latter problem is not due to key settings within the program.

Well, none of my multimedia keys work with the new MM, but used to do with the last 2.x version.
To be true, my play/pause key works, but it just restores the MM window when pressed...
Think that there is something to be fixed in the last MM releases...maybe.
