I have used the mediaportal software in it's testing fase and it didn't work. Constant crashes. I finally had to reinstall windows because it had parts lingering all around windows affecting other media applications.

I have use Meedio and it seems to work very nice. I wish MM could intergrate with this one. Of course only the MM DB would need to be intergrated. Meedio does a good job at the rest. Especially having playlists from MM in Meedio would be real nice (and autoDJ).

I still have to use MCE, but I'm eager to. I have seen some screenshots of MCE Vista and that looks promising.

Meedio is commercialware, of course it's better but it's expensive.
Media Portal is unstable because it is still in an early beta. But it's free, and working on it, it could become a good product.

This Thread ist 18 Months old. Is there an new Status about programming a MCE 2005 Plugin which use the MM Database? Read Only would be OK.

No such plugin exists and I'm not aware that anyone has worked on one.
