Re: wininet error #126 : (Unknown WININET error)
I have been running MM and Windows 7 (with IE8 of course installed by default) for a number of months now without experiencing this error, so perhaps it isn't IE8, or maybe it has something to do with upgrading to IE8 from a previous version. Hard to say.

Yes, but no one can reproduce or has seen this before. I suggest Googling for it some like I did to see if you can find better answers.IDisposable wrote:psssst, is this thing on?

Re: 3.1.1224 Unknown WININET error on podcast download
I can reproduce it, and I've answered all the questions put to me about the issue. It's NOT a problem in any other program, it's a BUG of some sort in MediaMonkey. I would give more information if MM would LOG something, but it doesn't. I've sent an email to support with the screen capture, my SystemInfo.NFO file, and the debug log I already posted here.Lowlander wrote:Yes, but no one can reproduce or has seen this before. Hopefully they will do something about this, not just tell me to google for solutions to the software I paid for. Just FYI, I've tried every version of WININET.DLL that has ever been on my system to ensure that IE isn't to blame... it's not.

Re: wininet error #126 : (Unknown WININET error)
Good point... while IE8 on Win7 is a different build, and Server 2008 is different than Windows 7, I still suspect it's a MediaMonkey issue. Unfortunately, there's been nothing coming from staff about how to debug the problem... nobody seems to care.nohitter151 wrote:I have been running MM and Windows 7 (with IE8 of course installed by default) for a number of months now without experiencing this error, so perhaps it isn't IE8, or maybe it has something to do with upgrading to IE8 from a previous version. Re: wininet error #126 : (Unknown WININET error)
We care and personally I'm using IE8 for More than month without issues, but I'm on XP SP3.
Wild Guess: The thing I've read is that it is possible that IE8 updates made some issues after update so that internet settings are not correctly inherited by MediaMonkey and Scrobbler plugin. Also Antivirus and Firewalls can interfere with access.
Any additional information and debugs would be more than welcome.

Well here on the forum we are just users trying to help users, I tried Googling for your error to help you out with your issue. As it's an issue that hasn't been seen before on an OS not officially supported by MediaMonkey and with an application that is still in beta it is tough to resolve. We're trying our best to help despite that we don't have the means to reproduce (I don't have Windows 2008 server).IDisposable wrote:Hopefully they will do something about this, not just tell me to google for solutions to the software I paid for.

Re: wininet error #126 : (Unknown WININET error)
I was having the same problem after installation of IE 8. I was able to avoid the error by turning down the IE 8 security settings to Medium-Low. Hopefully this gives a clue to someone more knowledgeable about what may be in conflict with MM and, I assume, IE8. Running on Windows Vista Ultimate.
Re: wininet error #126 : (Unknown WININET error)
I can confirm, removing IE8 RC fixes this issue on Vista.
I hope MediaMonkey can get this fixed.

You can also try to re-register wininet.dll
Peke wrote: 1. Run CMD in administrator mode (click the start button -> type CMD in the search bar and right click, then choose execute as administrator).
2. Type/execute "cd \windows\syswow64" ("cd \windows\system32" for 32 Bit windows)
3. Type/execute "regsvr32 wininet.dll"

Re: wininet error #126 : (Unknown WININET error)
I can confirm that IE8 (both the RC and the production version) cause this error on my machine. Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, MediaMonkey 3.0.7.1191. This is a showstopper for me; I'll be uninstalling MM until this is fixed.
Re: wininet error #126 : (Unknown WININET error)
Hm... I'm not wanting to sound to subjective but I've found that most of problems regarding IE8 are due the fact that all existing Windows version that support IE8 are in various stages of development (???). For example even installing IE8 on Win7 is not recommended and certainly not suggested even new version is released for user testing.
BTW It looks that IE8 Patches are starting to be part of Windows Update (at least that is what my XP Offered when I run monthly Windows Update check)
EDIT: I'm really sorry that my hands are tied as all is working without any glitches, but do not write me off for help.
