Re: MM4 Bad Aero experience
That doesn't appear to be the case here on Vista. However, on XP, is the main menu on the program title bar as it is on Vista & 7? Or does it appear like MM3 currently does? I seem to recall, maybe it was rovingcowboy, saying the ability to place the menu bar on the title bar isn't possible on pre-Vista systems.
Well... I just started MM4 in compatibility mode for XP and that's the case. In pre-Vista, the menu bar appears like in MM3, just another "toolbar." That's not the case on Vista/7, it's stuck on the program title bar... which, I do not like. However, in compatibility mode, I'm unable to drag the menu above the tabs. Perhaps that's just a limitation of it being run in compatibility mode as opposed to on an actual XP OS?

I think you're right. Anything lower than Vista can't move toolbars to the Titlebar. In that case I hope they fix this for Vista and up allowing users to move the menu bar like any other toolbar.

Re: MM4 Bad Aero experience
Can you confirm/deny whether you can actually place the menu/toolbars above the tabs in XP? You commented that "both above and under is already available" as you can drag and drop the menu, but were you making this comment because you've actually had the tabs below the menu (on XP), or because the menu appears below for you but above for Vista+? Thus you "assumed" it was possible to have either/or?
As mentioned, I was unable to get the menu above the tabs while running under compatibility mode. So I'm curious if this is actually possible on an actual XP machine.

I can't confirm what the initial setup looked like on XP, but I can't move the main menu (or any toolbar) above the tabs on XP.

Re: MM4 Bad Aero experience
Thanks for clarifying, Lowlander. I hope that if we're given the ability to have the menu bar elsewhere on Vista+, the ability to have it above the tabs is "added/retained." As always though, that's my own opinion/request.

Really? I'd MUCH rather have the chrome or opera look.

In other words, what we want is customization through skins and the ability to move the Title bar + alternative Titlebar formats + the ability to hide it like IE (with show on Alt).

Re: MM4 Bad Aero experience
I just saw that firefox has now the tabs in the titlebar since the latest beta.
That means all 4 major browser have the tabs inside the titlebar. And have replaced the menu by a button or an icon.
That is:
.Firefox
.Internet Explorer
.Chrome
.Opera
It's the way to go.
Please Mediamonkey team. Don't be late on this train.

Re: MM4 Bad Aero experience
The last Firefox beta I messed with still gave users the option between the two (with the tabs above being the default). Which, I would prefer the option to choose as I would likely want to be able to place them below the menu and/or some tool bars.

Re: MM4 Bad Aero experience
yep, you can still do this AND in some earlier post someone disliked the menu of opera (firefox just copied this): at the beta you can still have your menu on the top like in the previous firefox versions. The last Firefox beta I messed with still gave users the option between the two (with the tabs above being the default). maybe that's something for MM4? it would be interesting to see if the monkey-icon of geges first solution would represent the menu (i kind of dislike the bigger menu buttons though for example in solution two).

Actually, I believe Mozilla had FF4 UI mock-ups out showing the intentions of moving to that prior to Opera releasing theirs. However it may stem from Office having something like that... who knows.heartofhate wrote:the menu of opera (firefox just copied this)
