Great program! Would love to see the ability to turn the option to download the files on/off.
Also, one question, how can I set this up so it works outside my LAN? I'd like to show this to a friend, but nothing I've tried works, I've tried having him go to "http://(ip-address):2233/", that didn't work, I tried forwarding my ports, same result, I've tried disabling my firewall, I've tried everything and I can't get it to work. Is there some guide or any general steps I should try?

Hi,
I didn't use the monkeyserver, but it looks very nice. Does it support jukebox-mode? means to control the mediamonkey installed on the server via the monkeyserver (which will resist on the same machine as mediamonkey)?
I am not interested in streaming music but have all music on a central server connected to my main loudspeakers. Is that possible with monkeyserver?
kind regards and thanks for such a cool tool!

I summarized my own notes/guide on this topic ( per post on page 9). Perhaps this will help you:FlipYourWig wrote: Also, one question, how can I set this up so it works outside my LAN? Hey Jednie,
just wondering if there are any new updates you are working on for this?
Thanks

Jednie. Anything??nynaevelan wrote:Hi Jednie:
With the incorporation of the playlists I've come back to using the Server, however my playlist tracks are not queued and played in the order in which they are in the playlist. I am not sure what the sort order is because it is not alphabetical. Also since these are cued from the database how come they are not increasing the play status within MM? Is this possible??

Nyn,
Sorry I didnt' respond sooner. I have been taking time off of this project to work on other projects. I will try to have a fix for the playlist order in the next few days.
Monkey Server doesn't update the MediaMonkey database at this point so it doesn't increase the play status. I will likely add this feature in the future.

Do you just want the download link removed or do you need it secured so that they can't download files even if the download URL is entered in the address bar?

This is an interesting idea and I think it would be fairly easy to implement. So if I understand you correctly you just want the music to play on the PC where Monkey Server is running rather than the PC that is accessing Monkey Server remotely. Is this correct?

Personally I would like to be able to turn the download button on or off for each user. In other words I would like for users some users to be able to listen to tracks but not download them.
Now that I think about it, is the music being listened to by users being streamed or are tracks already downloaded to their computer to be listened to in the first place. Sorry for my ignorance.

Re: Monkey Server Beta 0.92 (2009-09-15) [MM3]
I've been unable to get the server to respond outside the network. Works fine on the inside. From the outside I always get a "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." error.
My network sits behind a mediacom cable modem -> personal router. The router has port 2223 forwarded to my server IP. Not sure how to trace down where the problem lies.

The playlist order is fixed in the version that I just released.nynaevelan wrote:Hi Jednie:

Re: Monkey Server Beta 0.93 (2009-10-29) [MM3]
Very nice fix. If while reviewing what you would like to do to improve the server, maybe add the possibility to view the playlist(s) before playing it and of course if possible the ability to have the track's playcount increase in the db that would be good. But it is improving very nicely.

Re: Monkey Server Beta 0.92 (2009-09-15) [MM3]
That is exactly what we would like. So my wife and I could control what is playing on our central server. That server feeds audio to our whole house and to a shoutcast station. We currently get up and control via computer, but we are looking for a way to use our wi-fi enabled cell phones as remotes to control the music. What you proposed Jednie would be exactly what we are looking for (or possibly the option to control whether the server or the remote gets the audio).jednie wrote:astrakid, astrakid wrote:Hi,
