Fresh install of MediaMonkey v3.1.2.1273 and Discogs Auto-tag v2.1. No other extensions/scripts installed.

Your script doesn't work. Displays an empty 'browser' window. Amazon search works fine.

EDIT: Forgot to add I'm running Window 7 RTM if it makes a difference.

Works just fine here in build 1273 and latest discogs script.

I just uninstalled MediaMonkey and erased all traces of the program from my hard drive. I then reinstalled MediaMonkey fresh accepting the defaults for all choices during installation. Finally, I double-clicked the discogs mmip and let it install. Shut down MediaMonkey & restarted. The script still doesn't work while v1.4 did.

I'm at a loss as to what to try next.

EDIT: Some detective work has shown me that for some reason gzip is disabled on my PC which of course the Discogs API doesn't like. Guess I'll need to do some digging and find out what's causing that.

Hi Innuendo,

Script is converted to MSXML6 in V1.4 so chances are very high that this installation will solve your problems.

Good luck.

I fixed the problem. Thanks for going to the trouble of digging up that URL, but it turns out the problem was the latest beta build of Ad Muncher was interfering with the gzip encoding. Once I uninstalled Ad Muncher your script sprang to life.

Thanks for all your hard work & sorry for the false alarm.

Just a follow-up post on my problem in case someone down the line is diagnosing a similar problem. I reported the bug in Ad Muncher to its developers and it has been fixed in the latest beta (v4.73 Build 31306). Now access to Discogs in MediaMonkey while Ad Muncher is installed & active works properly as it should.

Firefox + Adblock + Flashblock perfectly cleans everything up for free. I see no reason to use a 'man in the middle' shareware program who messes with everything for filtering. I hope they are not also filtering users passwords into a remote server

To be fair to Ad Muncher I have been using it for years and this is the first time it's ever interfered with a program like this. I agree that Firefox + Adblock + Flashblock cleans up everything for free...so long as you are using Firefox. I use other browsers & programs that use the IE engine for in-program browsing & no Firefox extension is going to help you there.

I bought Ad Muncher back in the dark ages when one price got you upgrades for life so it's not costing me anything to use it now. This is just the first problem I've had with it in the 5 years I've been using it & the devs fixed the trouble quickly.

Hi Monkeys!

Here's the new version:

Install Version 2.3

Changes:

+ Individual track selection is completed, old tracks thing removed
+ Smaller (150x150) album art is loaded on the viewer so that loading time is reduced. Note that bigger image is used while tagging.
+ Instead of "searching" text, now showing (at least) an error page with few errors (can be improved in the future)
+ Some cleanup on the code and result page

Let me know your comments and experiences...

Thanks! I can say I've achieved most of the things in my mind about this script (now i can start tagging my archive ) I think following developments will be mostly bugfixes and "doable" new ideas.

Hello, I've been using the discogs script for about a year now, and noticed recently that it had stopped functioning. I updated to the latest version and all is well, except that the label information is now entered into the Publisher tag, and not Custom 2.

This causes me problems, as Publisher is effectively useless for anything other than searching in Mediamonkey.

All my music is filed Label/Album/Artist - Track, and I also use Label as a filter in the track browser. Is there any script where I can copy and paste the Publisher tag into Label (Custom 2)? I've googled to no avail. I can find scripts that do the job, just not for the fields I need.

Everything I have read (and believe me, I've been reading a LOT about tags lately) indicates that Publisher is the proper field for that information.

Anything other than MediaMonkey? Both foobar2000 and mp3tag use the Publisher tag and expect to find the label information in the Publisher tag. I fully expect that other programs use the Publisher tag as well as it seems to be part of the standard.

You should be able to just load up this script in a text editor and change part where it saves to the Publisher tag to Custom2 (or whatever you wish). Alternatively, mp3tag would allow you to changes the tags in your files as well.

Publisher is undoubtably the correct field but Mediamonkey just doesn't make good use of it.

I use Mediamonkey as my browser for DJ'ing and I really can't see anything else that's suitale for my needs. I'll have a look at editing the script to suit my own needs.

Already tried MP3tag but the Actions tagging doesn't support Custom fields (at least I can't get it to)

edit: Changing the script worked a treat. Thanks.
