Did you have this version still saved on your computer or did you download it somewhere. I'd love to go back to an old version 'till this is fixed so I can stop using Windows Media Player to burn my CD's but I don't have an old version of MM still on my 'puter.

I posted earlier that all opened fine; however, when I tried it this morning, since I wasn't burning anything I did not have a disc in the drive.
I decided to use it to burn a mp3 disc, and with disc in, it took over 10 minutes.
the second two also took 10 minutes to load.
Without disc = immediate
With disc = 10 minutes
I am out of patience right now, but I can do the other 3 later if I need to.

Do I understand correctly that you get this result when using MM and we using the testing applications?
Can others having this problem confirm this result?

Jiri -
I tested AudioBurner2)msvc60.exe with no disc in the drive - It took 12 minutes for the application window to open. During the 12 minute delay there was no "application" running in task manager but the "process" AudioBurner2_msvc60.exe was running.
This is probably meaningless, but I have nothing else to do while I'm timing and waiting for a response: Immeadiately the process (according to task Manager) does
I/O reads: 17
I/O read bytes: 146,344
GDI Objects: 8
User objects: 38
Threads: 1
Handles: 56
Then it sits for 12 minutes, the application window opens (and an application appears in task manager). I inserted a CD and dragged one mp3 file to the window for burning. The app immeadiately goes to "not responding" and locks other apps (like task manager) from starting. I ctl-alt-del to kill process, XP responds can't, I say kill now, and after approx. 6 minutes it actually dies, and my computer is back to normal. If there is further testing, I think I will wait rather than power down.
If I can do anything alse, please let me know.

Running MM 2.5.4.971 in WinXP Pro
Just for fun, I booted in Safe mode, opened MM, highlighted one song ("Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield") , Hit Tools/burn CD/DVD....
MM went to not responding right away, but what I thought was interesting was that task manager said "What's the Frequency? Kenneth - by R.E.M - Media Monkey" Not Responding
So for some reason the current "now playing" song from a previous startup of MM seemed to be the song that Burn CD engine was looking for, not the highlighted song I had selected. Don't know for sure if this is is really happening but first, I would have expected task manager to just say "Media Monkey" not reponding, and second, if a song filename was to be shown I would have expected it to be the song highlighted for burning.

I reinstalled 2.5.2 and it burns fine.
Think I'll stick with it until the burn issue is resolved.

Hey everyone I found a solution that may work for now.
I was having the some problem with the CD burner that many of you described. I would try to burn a CD without success. I even left my machine overnight and it did not burn!
After reading the other posts I tried to download the beta, without anything changing. I then tried to download the older version of 2.5.2.
Just for fun I tried to install it
without uninstalling 2.5.9. No the about tab still shows the version as 2.5.9, bu the burner is working fine now.
Basically I installed 2.5.6, downloaded and installed 2.5.9 beta, then downloaded and installed 2.5.2. Now the burner works fine!
I don't know how or why, but it worked. Maybe the moderators could tell us a little better why, but give it a shot, it worked for me

Well you got the version numbers messed up but here is why.
2.5.2 didn't have burning problems
2.5.3 introduced changes to burning which is causing problems
2.5.4b's are trying to solve this issue, but haven't for all.
As 2.5.2, 2.5.3, 2.5.4 are nearly identical you can install an older version over a newer version without having trouble. As you installed the older 2.5.2 you can now burn again.

Sleepy,
Hicks was testing an hpCDBurn.dll that I'd mailed. We'll be coming out with a new build today or tomorrow that includes the fix.
If you want to give it a try, it's at:
