Burn delay

Post by MarineBrat »

Description:
When I try to burn a CD MM hangs for a while every time. The same thing occurs if I try to burn from a playlist or just from a single song.

Version:
MM 2.5.3.968
WinXP/Pro, IE6, all patched with latest updates.

Steps:
1) Right click on playlist or song. Choose "Send To/CD (Burn)"

Result:
MM instantly hangs for about five minutes. The screen is frozen and the "Send To/CD (Burn)" dialog box is still hanging there. Windows reports MM is not responding. After about five minutes it wakes up and all is normal. The burn dialog has come up and I can proceed.

My songs are all MP3, but this is NOT the part where MP3's are converted to WAV. This problem occurs instantly upon selecting "Send To/CD (Burn)", and in fact the local menu freezes on the screen while the problem is in progress.

Is anyone else having this problem?
Sleepy

Yes, I have exactly the same problem, except that MM never responds (I've waited 10+ minutes) and I need to terminate using ctrl-alt-delete.

I sent a debug log to the admins last week.

There seem to be issues with burning in the current release. Please try to generate a debug log as described in the bug forum to help the developers solve all issues.

We've updated the disc burning engine in the latest release and fixed a number of related issues.

Burn delay

Post by Sleepy »

I just tested the new beta as well, and I still have the problem I described above. I will try to generate a debug log over the weekend.

I also cannot burn at all. V 2.5.3.968 WinXP

My machine just freezes and locks up. Task manager won't kill MM, I have to power off. I downloaded debug, but it too froze up so I couldn't even save the log to send.

Does anyone know if going back to an earlier version will at least get me burning again?

I wonder if the 'lockups' are not really lockup, just a side effect of the increased priority that MM makes the pre-burn wave files.

While your computer appears locked up, is your hard drive light on?

If it is, then this is what I am guessing is happening (MM is creating the wave files at high priority) making it appear that windows is locked up.

MM freezes at the burning wizard

Post by rusty »

Hi,

Sleepy, Joseperu, Maintengr and anyone else experiencing the problem in which MM 2.5.4 beta 2 freezes during the wizard:

Can you please tell me:
1) What CD/DVD burner you have
2) What operating system you're using
3) What other CD Burning software is installed to your machine

Thx for your help in solving this.

Thanks, please others having this problem send us a similar list. You can also try to run debug version and send us generated c:\hpCDE.log file. Another useful information could be whether you use some kind of CD/DVD emulation application.
