There's your problem, iTunes has to be installed so MM can regognize the iPod touch.

and set it to sync manually.

Now, on my desktop MM doesn't even recognize the Touch at all.
Any ideas?
I don't have itunes installed on the desktop machine.

It's been stated before....MM requires some of the files from itunes.
You need to have itunes installed on the computer you connect the touch to.
There's a sticky in this forum that shows all the settings that need to be changed in itunes for all this to work correctly.

You've got something set wrong then. It's fine for 1400 tracks on my touch with firmware 2.2.
I don't have art in the tags, it's stored as folder.jpg on the hard drive and in the MM sync options I have it set to put it as folder.jpg on the device and not to add to the tags when converting.
Check your settings against the sticky posts in this forum, then remove all songs from the touch. Disconnect the touch from the computer. Reconnect it, then resync it.

this works if i only use mm or only use itunes, using both causes the album art problem.
that's possible. I have itunes installed, but never launch it.
I update apps via wifi right on the touch and don't sync with itunes for that.

itunes authorize iTouch and iPhone on each PC before it can be accessed by MM. As I do not own any of them I can't give exact tech details why that is needed steps it could be easily be some sort of Security token for use with DRM protected files.

I can't get album art on my new ipod Touch (2.2 firmware). I tried the "sync one track that has album art from itunes" trick to no avail. Any ideas? I hate this thing, but I love it too. I don't want to even open itunes again for fear that it will tear up my library. Help!

There's an FAQ on this. YOu can't use both which is really insane since u need to use iTunes to update your firmware, synch your calendar and contacts.

I guess bottom line is that if u dont want album art, use MM.

That isn't true at all. Look at what the support article says:
Important Note: There have been reports of Album Art getting 'mixed up'if both

MediaMonkey and iTunes are used to sync music. If you're using MediaMonkey to

sync your Music, please limit iTunes syncs to Video/Photos/etc. but not Audio as

described at
You can use both, and I do so regularly. Take a look at the correct settings for iTunes and you should not have problems:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.php/IPod_Touch

I have an iPhone and I have not had a single album art problem, as well I can update firmware and sync videos, photos, and contact info without disturbing my music synced with MM.

Just got the an iTouch and the latest iTouch 2.2 s/w and using latest MM. Sych everything up and my iTouch tells me I have No Music. :-( I've been using MM with a Nano forever with no issues. I've followed all the directions in this forum... honest! Any suggestions. I really, really don't want to use iTunes to manage anything but my contacts and videos. Shit, I don't really want to use iTunes for that either!

After I sych with MM iTunes tells me it cannot read the contection fro the iPod and makes me restore the thing.

I have exactly the same problem with 2nd gen touch and 2.2 firmware - was OK with 2.1 but I get corruption everytime I try and use it with MM now.

I know other folks don't have the issue, and I too have tried a number of scenarios but bottom line is at the moment - I can't use MM with my touch which is a shame.

If most people don't have the problem then I guess there is little to look at but I keep checking back here to see if anyone else is having similar problems.

I guess I should also mention I'm running Vista 64 with the 64bit version of iTunes.

Followed instructions to a "T", again and no luck. :( Everything looks great until I look for music on my iTouch and it tells me I have "No Content". MM can see the music just fine. Then on starting iTunes I'm informed it cannot read the contents of my iTouch and needs to restore it to factory settings.

One item of note, it looks like every time I plug in my iTouch another instance of the "iTouch" d_iPhone.dll item is added in MM under the Available Devices /Plug-ins option. Only the first entry has the MM options set while all the others have the default iTunes options. Also, the first instance d_iPhone.dll is checked (good options) and the the last instance is check (defualt, bad options). When I delete or uncheck the last checked instance my iTouch disappears from MM.

As previously mentioned, I'm running Vista 64 with the 64bit version of iTunes.

I have been having some problems with music syncing and album art on my iPhone (3G), and finally stumbled upon something that works for me every time, so I thought I'd share.

My iPhone firmware is 2.2 and my MediaMonkey is 3.0.6.1190 (gold version), on Vista (32-bit).

I am syncing my music from a dynamic playlist of all files rated 4 and above. I have the auto-conversion set to convert all non-mp3 files into 192kbs mp3s (from ogg and flac files).

I followed this advice:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.php/IPod_Touch

When I did this, my music would almost sync correctly. There were two problems. First, my album art was screwed up. When I looked at it on my iPhone, it would show the wrong cover, or sometimes multiple covers in an amalgamation. Second, there was one set of mp3s which would cause the whole sync procedure and MediaMonkey to hang. The only obvious difference between those mp3 files and the rest was that they were encoded at 320kbs (which the iPhone should handle just fine).

I made two changes and now things work perfectly (that is, the above two problems went away). I don't know exactly why these solved my problem.

First, I changed 'Sync tracks to:' to '<Album Artist> - <Title>'
I don't think this is what solved the problem, but it is nicer, in my opinion. This helps primarily with mixed albums, where the individual song was made by one person, but the whole album was mixed by some other DJ.

Second (and I think more importantly), I checked 'Remove images from tags if larger than:' and put in '1' KB. I also left 'Sync all Album Art to Track folders' and 'Copy Album Art to Track tags' unchecked.

It seem strange, but after these two changes, the album art on my iPhone matched the album art in my MediaMonkey library perfectly. Go figure.
Hope this helps somebody.

Eric,

Do you have problems with multiple d_iPhone.dll files in the Tools | Options | Portable/Audio Devices? I get a new one listed everytime I plug in my iTouch, have 7 so far and they are all checked.
