MrQuan83 wrote:Ok, so I downgraded Internet Explorer 8 to 7 and I'm still not able to update my podcasts.

Here's some info on my machine:
MediaMonkey 3.1.1.1261
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 2
Internet Explorer 7.0.6002.18005
Windows Firewall (no other firewall software)
AVG Anti-Virus Free
Spybot - Search & Destroy

What I've tried:
Downgrading IE8 to IE7
Registering wininet.dll
Checked my Windows 'hosts' file
Adding a program exception for MediaMonkey through Windows Firewall
Disabling Windows Firewall
Restarting heaps etc.

Still no dice. I don't see an error, but when I click to update a podcast I see a progress-bar appear in the status area and instantly disappear (I imagine this is the usual podcast download status). I'm not sure if there is an error log anywhere? Can someone please tell me if an error log exists and how to access it, and I'll post those details here too.
Maybe its just the podcasts. what are the URLs?

http://freetalklive.com/netcast.xml for example.

I'm using this same URL (copy/pasted) in Juice and it's downloading fine. I'm using Juice to get my podcasts until I can get MM working again.

I deleted all the podcasts in MM, deleted the files off my PC, and added everything again and it seems to be working!! :D Maybe I killed it when I installed the update recently?? I'll post again if I find any more podcasting issues.

Hi Everyone,

I just want to share what solved this issue for me. WARNING!!! BACKUP YOUR FILES BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS!!!

The causes and solution are explained in http://www.kintek.com.au/web-design-blo ... ininetdll/, and I copied and pasted the main solution steps (only steps 2 and 3 are needed):
Step 2)
To be sure, to be sure, I ran a command line ownership from my Administrator Level Command Prompt (Right-click cmd.exe, "Run As Administrator").
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2204/vis ... stem_file/

takeown /f c:\windows\system32\wininet.dll

Step 3)
I then downloaded a nifty application called Replacer:
http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/
Once running, I typed:
At the first prompt:
“C:\windows\system32\wininet.dll” <- this is my current version which must die
At the second prompt:
“C:\wininet.dll” <- this is the version I copied from my Win7 Build 7000 Beta box.
Hope this solves the issue for the rest of us.

I had the same problem but had IE7. In IE7, Work offline was selected. I cleared this selection and then Media Monkey worked!

Unchecking "Work Offline" in Internet Explorer worked for me- thanks so much!

First time I've opened IE in years... WTF
