ScrobblerDJ v1.26, Let your music free!!!
here's a weird one
Hi,
Love the script a LOT. There is a weird thing that happens fairly often, though. For some reason scrobblerdj wants to grab songs from three particular albums (from a library of 26000 songs), all in the same directory: "Various Artists and Soundtracks", specifically 'Alternative 90s, Blow OST and Vanilla Sky OST ... since I have only a few songs rated in those albums, it chooses those few over and over again, enough to make me delete the three albums. Before I do this, is there any setting I could fiddle with? ( I had %match set at 33%)

This can happen often because Last.FM sees those artists as highly related.
This is because a lot of people will listen to all of the tracks of a compilation album (like soundtracks) and Last.FM relates those artists together.
In the next version SDj will give the option to filter out artists belonging in the same album, until then you have those alternatives (delete the tracks is not one of them)

- Set the "Dont play same song unless x minutes have passed" to a big value (eg 500 minutes). This will prevent same songs playing over and over again, but it wont limit artists belonging to the same album
- Set the "Dont play same artist unless x minutes have passed" to a big value (eg 200 minutes). This will prevent same Artists playing over and over again, but it wont limit artists belonging to the same album
- Give all of these albums a low rating (eg half a star) and exclude tracks lower than half a star from being selected by SDj
Thanks!
What you say makes sense except for one thing - multiple songs from each album aren't being chosen, only one is (from each of the three various/soundtrack albums). Other songs from my library are somehow 'triggering' those particular 3 songs, and vastly different songs are doing the triggering - it is almost as if Last.fm thinks that these songs are 'common denominators' of whatever is in my library... weird

new functionality
Hello,
there just came an idea to my mind.
Sometimes you want to discover new music. ScrobblerDJ is perfect to do so.
But sometimes you just want to listen to a particular genre.
If you use this plugin for a while you'll find out that many artists are a "bridge" between different genres. That is great in order to discover new music due to the "development" in the playlist.
Thus if you want to fix a special genre you have to tighten the settings (but there still will be a development sooner or later and sometimes the settings will be too tight).
In other words, you cannot use this plugin; you have use your genre-tags included in your mp3-files in order to find music that matches your genre.
Unfortunately the tags are restricted to one expression so your filter won't work effective (punk different from punk rock etc.) and you'll have to fill in many tags in your mp3-files manually.
Last.fm has a big database of tags, that are even connected which each other.
So it would be cool to switch between two modes in ScrobblerDJ:
-music discovery and
-restricted music discovery
In restricted music discovery mode you can fill in individual tags that must fit to the proposed artists. If no artists fit to the stated tags scrobblerDJ will try to find artists that are near to the stated tags. If that fails SDJ will add a sing randomly.
That just would be just great.
Imagine you get a personal composition of songs when you type:
Hip-Hop
Rock
Indie
Metal
Punk
Ska
etc.
another remark:
sometimes it happens that SDJ adds dead entries. In order to increase the reliability would it be possible to check first if the mp3 file exists respectively to add a further song?
Thanks for all the work you did until now! Best plugin ever.

This is probably because your default playlist does not include the qualifier: status- is accesable.
New script:
Last.FM Node Now with DJ Mode!
Last.fm + MediaMonkey = Scrobbler DJ!
Tag with MusicBrainz ~ Get Album Art!
Tweak the Monkey! ~ My Scripts Page

Hi,
...after some time I tried out the ScrobblerDJ again but locked in a vicious cycle of just 3 (!) songs which I found very annoying. It seems like I either do not understand the settings of ScrobblerDJ or there is room for improvement:
Suggestion: In case ScrobblerDJ has to select another title from a recommended Artist, then PLEASE RANDOMIZE the seleted title from the ones available in the archive. This randomization seems to be done if from the default playlist items are added.
I was locked in the cycle:
Santana\Hits\I Love You Much Too Much.mp3 (here I have 30 tracks)
Dire Straits\Money For Nothing\04 Twisting by the Pool [Remix].mp3 (here I have 53 tracks)
Guns and Roses\13 You Could Be Mine.mp3 (here I have 14 tracks)
-> start with Santana...
Question:
Where is a description of the ScrobblerDJ settings and their effect on the behavior of the script?
I had selected "any rating" but when writing this post I noticed that all these titles have a rating set (very low though, as I use the rating mainly to mark tracks with flaws using the "bomb") and now it looks to me that "any rating" does not include "no rating"! I changed now to "no rating" and this gets me out of it
Still I would like to know what the other options are meant for.
bye

I think you should upgrade your MM version. I lot of scripts, especially more powerful ones like this one, rely on features that have only recently been added to MM.

I would love to get this script to work. Unfortunately, I am getting error messages. They occur when I load the program:
First:
Error #1033 - Microsoft VBScript compilation error
Unterminated string constant
Edt.AddItem("****?)
File: "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Scripts\Auto\ScrobblerDJConfig.vbs", Line: 174, Column: 21
Followed by:
Error happened during script execution:
Unterminated string constant
I am currently using MM v2.5.4.978. Any ideas?

Can you open ScrobblerDJConfig.vbs in a text editor and tell me what line 174 is?
