Album Art Tagger 5.2 - Updated 26/10/2013
Re: Album Art Tagger 4.6 - Updated 10/03/2010
First of all, thanks for this great add-on.
I'm currently in the process of replacing all my low-res album art with high-res versions. I'm doing this by placing a high-res jpg in each album folder, then doing '03. Remove artwork (delete from tag)', followed by '02 Embed artwork (copy from mask to tag)'. Now this seems to work just fine, but requires two passes. Is there any way of replacing existing artwork in a single pass?
Thanks

Re: Album Art Tagger 4.6 - Updated 10/03/2010
All,
Great script, but I haven't learned all the tricks yet (using 4.6). Here's my query:
All files (FLAC & MP3) organized by artist\album folders.
All folders have a jpg front cover image, but the name formats vary.
Most files are tagged properly.
Some files are not tagged with the image.
Some files are tagged and show the folder image, but one or both is not marked as "front cover" type.
I'd like MM to show a tag and folder image for each file, with all images marked "front cover".
Ideally, I'd also like all the folder images to be renamed as <artist> <year> <album>.jpg.
I can use the script to tag using <Path>\<*>, but that seems like it will re-tag all my files, even the ones already tagged.
The only way I know of in MM to check images is by hovering over each image. So:
a) Can I sort or filter files by image status and type? (so that I can run this script just on the files that need it)
b) Is there an easy way to rename (by mask) all my folder images?
c) I tried using Album Art Tagger to change an image's type from 'Not specified' to 'Front Cover' (option 9). At first, seemed not to work, but on the next use of MM, I thought maybe it had. Is there a delay of some kind (e.g., file monitoring needs to be run again)?

@Stompa - I think there are two many combinations of processes that someone might want to run to consider trying to combine them.
@Evil Overlord - you should be able to use the "Tagging Inconsistencies" script to find the tracks which need to be processed by this script, I think.

Many thanks. I had no idea this script existed, but it should really help clean things up.trixmoto wrote:@Evil Overlord - you should be able to use the "Tagging Inconsistencies" script to find the tracks which need to be processed by this script, I think.

Re: Album Art Tagger 4.6 - Updated 10/03/2010
This script allows renaming linked art to a mask, but the mask only offers a few choices, which do not include year. Is there a way to add the <year> tag, so that I can end up with <artist> <year> <album>?
Re: Album Art Tagger 4.6 - Updated 10/03/2010
Well the problem with this is that the year is not stored at the album level, but at the track level. So what value would you use if the differed within an album?

Ah... um... well,...trixmoto wrote:Well the problem with this is that the year is not stored at the album level, but at the track level. So what value would you use if the differed within an album?
Got it. I suppose it's too tricky to say IF year is the same for all tracks, then add year? I can see how that would be awkward, interface-wise.

I've added this to my list, I'll see what I can do.

Re: Album Art Tagger 4.7 - Updated 01/05/2010
New version (4.7) is now available to download from my website. I have added the <year> mask field which represents the albums year (average of tracks in album).

First off, I want to say that this script looks amazing! Thanks trixmoto!
I'm hoping a more seasoned MediaMonkey Veteran can lend me a hand with my current problem...
I am going through my very large library and trying to download missing album artwork or (if I have the artwork already) higher resolution artwork.
To do this I am using the program "Album Art Downloaded". This program downloads a file to the proper folder and names it "folder.jpg", but it does not embed it in the actual MP3.
So, at the moment, I have a ton of folders that have either:
A) A folder.jpg file that is not embedded in the tag at all;
B) A folder.jpg file that is newer/better/higher-resolution than the image embedded in the tag
Is there a 'view' in MediaMonkey that can show me the albums that meet either or both of the above criteria? I downloaded the "Tagging Inconsistencies" script but am still not sure where to look.
I think once I can identify those albums, I can use Album Art Tagger to embed the folder.jpg file into the tag.
Based on what I've already read in this thread, I think for the albums that I'm upgrading to a higher resolution image, I first have to "03. Remove artwork (delete from tag)" and then "02. Embed artwork (copy from mask to tag)". Is that correct?
Lastly (and sorry for being a total newbie!), I see when I choose "02. Embed artwork (copy from mask to tag)" there is a drop-down menu that says 'embed in tag', 'embed as link' or 'embed both ways'. I guess I'm a little hazy on the terminology... I think I'm interpretting 'embed in tag' properly, but what would 'embed as link' do? Are most people just doing 'embed both ways'?
THANKS in advance for your help!

Add/Re-scan of your library folders will find and link album art.
The "Magic Nodes" script in conjunction with the "Calculate Cover Size" script are probably the best way to locate the cases you want to fix after you have run the Add/Re-Scan.

Re: Album Art Tagger 4.7 - Updated 01/05/2010
Thanks for the reply Owyn.
So, are you saying that if I just re-scan my library, Media Monkey will automatically find the folder.jpg file and embed it in the MP3 file itself?
In which case, I don't have to use any of the functions of the Album Art Tagger script?
I thought the JPG actually gets embedded in the MP3 file... am I mistaken?

Tools->Options->Library:"Scan Track Directories for Album Art" has to be checked for this to work.
The found art is "linked" not "embedded".

Re: Album Art Tagger 4.7 - Updated 01/05/2010
Thanks Owyn.
So, I now know that if I scan my library (with the setting “Tools->Options->Library:"Scan Track Directories for Album Art" “ checked) then MM will link the files to the folder.jpg file.
Do most people just leave the artwork linked or do they embed it in the file as well?
I was under the impression that it is common practice to want to embed the file or embed & link the file.
Am I mistaken?
If most people just leave the artwork linked, then I guess I can just do the scan and leave it as-is.
I was planning on downloading all the folder.jpg files and then using Album Art Tagger to embed them.

Re: Album Art Tagger 4.7 - Updated 01/05/2010
I embed art but there is a tradeoff.
Embedded art is more portable.
Linked art uses less disk space. This becomes more of an issue with hi-res album art.
