The option is ticked in MM to sync this info.
Yes, a bit of a regression introduced by the Mac iTunes facilities. Fixed in version 1869

Question: is it possible to simply export the library into iTunes? I want to keep my files in the same location, but this script keeps wanting to duplicate my files. I have waaay too much music and too little disc space for that.

Oops, forgot to log-in. ^_^;

So yeah, I'm looking for a way to keep my files in the same location, but transfer the library to iTunes. It works great the way it does (it transfers playcount, cover art, etc.!) but I just don't have nearly enough filesize to duplicate everything, and also I have my music neatly organized in folders and I'd rather not throw them all together in one map. :P

The duplicated files do have the old paths in its filenames, though, which leads me to believe my issue can be fixed...

The script here kinda worked like that, but wasn't really functional anymore.

Thanks so much!

Is it a bug of I miss something. The synch doesn't seem to be bidirectional. I run auto sync for few files and settings from iTunes are not copied

Please see the instructions at the start of this thread.

Note: the synchronisation will only work if the plugin has put the tracks into iTunes. Any tracks in iTunes prior to the plugin being installed will be ignored.

So I assume any track ripped directly into iTunes cannot be synched neither. Any way to make it work for all tracks in iTunes and MM database regardless source?

I'm making progress, I don't know what I did but I am now able to get it to sync tracks but it still will not sync the playlists, here is a copy of the debug log: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13254132/itunes4%20sync.LOG

When a track from MM is put into iTunes it is tagged with an ID from MM which allows them to be correlated during sync. Without the matching ID the tracks cannot be sync'd. It's pretty fundamental to the way that it works.

If all of your tracks in iTunes are DRM-free there is nothing to stop you importing the files from your iTunes ripped tracks into MM to consolidate it into one place, empty iTunes and then sync from MM->iTunes. Remember to backup first!

Get the latest version from http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brows ... or-itunes/ (4.0.3.1869)

I know that my current beta release has some fixes above what is there (mainly on the Mac OSX side of things) but I think that 1869 was pretty good.

1869 is a lot faster and it does put the tracks in itunes but I still cannot get the playlists to go over, which I really need because the Amazon Cloud will only import my playlists from either itunes or Windows Media Player. I will try to keep playing with it before navigating through WMP.

Most of my effort (and testing) has been for the new Mac OSX operation and Windows mode has been neglected somewhat.

I've posted build 1978 which has further fixes. Once it's approved then you can install and try that.

EDIT: Approved now.

Ok, I will keep my eye out but in the meantime do you or any readers of this forum know how to import m3u playlists into itunes other than individually? If not m3u's should I be exporting and then importing them in another format??

EDIT: I was able to find a workaround, I imported the playlist names into itunes, then during the script export it updated the tracks into the playlists. This might be due to my misunderstanding the playlist section and I will re-read your instructions concerning the playlist names and their reuse but for now I was able to get them in so now the Amazon Cloud can import them in.
