The only thing I can think is that the HP is a PS/2 keyboard and the Logitech is USB!
FWIW I have my HP keyboard connected via USB and it still doesn't work.

Interesting I haven't had that kind of HP keyboard. Will investigate If I can get one for test.

I'm happy to say that 3.0.1.1127 is fully working properly as far as my dell wireless keyboard and my cyberlink remote control.
I guess I had an old version
Even the volume works now
That did not work in 2.5
How about an autoupdate or an update notification feature in the software?
That would help in making sure you are running the latest version
thankx

Not working on my HP keyboard..

Having a similar problem. I have an HP Wireless Media Center Keyboard, and a wireless WMC remote that came with my computer. Functions such as next track, previous track, and stop work fine with MM 3 but play/pause do not. They always worked with MM 2 and I use them constantly. I'm sure it has something to do with hotkeys but I've tried all possible solutions (that I can think of) anyone know of a way to fix this? Thanks

Hi Everyone
Seems quite a lot of you are having problems with HP keyboards. I've searched for new drivers, but it seems I have the latest installed. Still, if there is a common problem, I guess it's more likely to get fixed... Really missing those drive eject buttons on my HP keyboard.
After seeing some of your posts about remotes I thought I'd give my Media Centre remote a go... First off I thought all was OK, but soon found the Play and Pause buttons don't work (separate buttons - Not Play/Pause). Just a generic, third party remote and I Can't remember the make (ok... ok... it was cheap!). Used to work fine with MM2.5 though.
All the best and a happy new year to all users and MM staff and developers.

Exactly the same here.

I've just found out that it's been the 'Multimedia: Next' hotkey that just wasn't set.
Maybe you might want to check your hotkey configuration.

Well I just found a possible temporary fix that is kind of obvious but a little weird. I went into the hotkey options and went to the "next" hotkey and simply made the hotkey for that "multimedia play/pause" So now, to pause I just hit the next key although I'll change it to a less used button. This is good for me because often times I don't want to go all the way to my computer to pause and so now I'll just use my remote/keyboard.

There are obviously 2 issues going on here at the moment. TheKidKid's solution may help those of you who are only having problems with the 'Next' and 'Play/Pause' keys, but there are some of us here (me included) where none of the multimedia keys work at all.
Here's my problem again... None of the multimedia track select and play/pause keys on my PS/2 HP keyboard work - none at all (volume controls still work though). Also, the Play/Pause button on my media remote (Speed Link SL-6399) doesn't work. All these things worked fine in MM 2.5 and continue to work in all other media players.
MM have obviously changed the way the program reads certain keys (or could be a Vista thing?). Whatever, the functionality of MM3 is greatly reduced because of this.
I'm pretty new to this forum - do MM techs/developers read these forums or do I need to submit a proper bug report?
Thanks to The KidKid for his temporary fix and I hope this will help those of you with the 'Next' key not working.

Nope, i use WinXP SP2 and my multimedia keys (Previous, Next, Stop, Play/Pause) don't work. So it's not only a Vista thing.

I think they read topics quite often.

Things just got a whole lot weirder...
I sometimes use Windows Media Center if I need to use the remote a lot. Did this the other day and none of my track select buttons were working on the remote!! Realized that MM3 was still running in the background and closed it... Buttons now working.
So... By having the multimedia keys set to Global in MM3 it actually stops the buttons working in other programs when MM3 is running. Very annoying as I have MM running most of the time.
Can anyone else duplicate this?

Well, i think s quite normal that the same key used for a program cannot work for another program in the same time.
Maybe you could try to set them to not global in MM.

Not really true Fraxav. A global setting in one program shouldn't interfere with a local setting in another. The fact is that the Multimedia keys in Media Centre default as Global - you can't change them. This was never a problem before, I often had up to three media programs working with no problems - they should all be asking the PC to do the same thing; that is: Stop/Play/Pause/Next/Previous, no matter what program is making the call. A Global setting in MM3 should only work on MM3, whether it's in focus or not; it shouldn't stop a function in another program.
I'm pretty certain that when this is fixed it will also fix the problem with other programs.
Not a big problem though - I just close MM3 when I want to use another media program now. None of this fixes the bug in MM3 though, which still needs attention.

Well, yes.
So let's say that three media programs (if all of them are for listening to music) are maybe too many at a time, and MM3 still has a bug to be fixed

:P
