I was trying to reorder them in the central panel that, of course, also shows the track listings. Once I did that it was a simple matter to just save the reordered list back to the playlist and overwrite the original. Thanks very much folks, for your time and patience. I greatly appreciate it.

What *did* ever happen to that script, by the way?
I am still confused with your statement, you should not have to move the playlist to the NP panel in order to make modifications. You should be able to make adjustments within the playlist itself. If you are not able to do this, then you should open a support ticket in order for the devs to try to determine why you are not able to make playlist adjustments within the playlist itself. Did you try upgrading to 3.0.7 to see if it worked corectly there?

As for the script, MoDementia has decided to remove his scripts. If you still have a version of it, you should still be able to use it.

What does this script actually do, and why has it been removed?

It allows you to create, delete and change playlists in a more manageable fashion. Whereas with MM's native functions if you navigate away from the node you were in, you lose your position. This script eliminated that downfall. And it is no longer available because the author chose to remove it.

The user stated they were in the playlist node...
yeah but they also sounded confused, reading between the lines its fairly obvious they were confusing the two, central window repeated many times made me think it was wrong as i get the same errors sorting the now playing list in the now playing now central window

I guess it all comes down to assumptions, since the user stated they were in the playlist node, and when you are in the PN and you select the playlist name, the tracks are populated in the main track panel. So I assumed the user was in the correct spot, especially since I gave them a pic as a reference. Also, you add in the fact the user stated the now playing panel had a different set of tracks then what the user was working with. Assumptious on my part, I know but I was working with the information I was given and didn't think I needed to infer any other information.

yep, but the issue now i think is why when viewing the Now Playing Node (ie the center panel selected at the top of the tree), and make a change, eg, sort by genre or artist, it cannot go back to what the playlist order is and so looks weird for the songs that are playing, going to another node and back fixes the view but would be nice if interaction with the Now Playing Node would alter the playlist as well

i like to make a playlist and just let it play while i work elsewhere and see the covers etc scrolling by and is just an irritation that it is not really the now playing order if you try sort in it.

edit: i just went and tested this and it did work as expected, ie: the playlist order changed when i altered stuff in Now Playing Node, but i know it did not at some point before :/

I'm sorry if I was confusing. I will be upgrading the installation to see if that makes a difference. But so that I am clear on what I was doing, these are the steps I followed. And I now have another take on what was going wrong, which I will explain.

Okay, so I open up MM and I am presented with 3 sections; to the far left is the node list. I navigate to the playlist node and choose the appropriate playlist I want to edit. When I clcik on that playlist name, what I have been calling the "central window" is populated with the tracks in the playlist that I've selected. On the far right is another "window/area that holds docked panels that I've opened, such as the Track Browser or the Now Playing panel.

I was attempting to reorder the tracks in that middle area and was unable to do so. I found that if I opened the Now Playing panel it was populated with a different set of tracks than my playlist tracks. It was, in fact, populated with everything that I had played at some prior point. But I found that if I clicked List/Load Playlist/ then selected the playlist I wanted, the NP panel now showed my playlist and I could reorder the tracks as I wanted them.

What I also discovered just a bit ago is that the "view" I was using for that middle window/area had an effect on my ability to move the tracks around. I always use the "Show Album Art with Details" mode. Can't reorder the tracks in that mode it turns out. At least I can't. When I switched to "Show Details" mode it became possible to drag the tracks around and reorder them in that middle window.

So, once again, it seems that my lack of understanding of some things was the culprit. And, once again, thanks to you folks for helping me figure it out.
