Last.fm Plug-in & Auto-DJ testing (MM 3.0.x)
Moderator: Gurus
Thanks Peke - what I was hoping for was to be able to use the Last.fm top songs for matching artists to find the undiscovered "jewels" in the 16K songs I still need to weed through. My expectation was that since I configured to only select from that group of songs it would find any "hits" in that 16K file, I'd then be able to find those songs that should (could) be rated highly.Peke wrote:Answers:
@bob61
This intendant behavior not bug. Last.fm DJ will always Search for best Rated Track On Last.fm to play next. From what you say you have similar taste to Last.fm and last.fm Recommended tracks are accessible e.i. 5 Star tracks. I either do not understand what you want to get from Last.fm or I think that Last.fm Script is not what you actually seek have you tried to set Auto-DJ to Playlist -> My 1/2 Star Playlist. Please elaborate.
My understanding of how this program would work is first, find any match against star rated (in my case it's 1/2 star rated tracks). If not a match then look in selected playback file (in my case it's these are the same - 1/2 star rated). If no hits then display appropriate message -or- choose any other track based on match from last.fm and match in my library.
If all this script does is first look at highly rated songs and then fall back to those with configured rating or playlist then it doesn't seem to have the functionality that I was expecting. No biggie, but the logic seems to be mssing what I thought was the intended target -playing songs that are "hidden" in your system, anyone can create a playlist of top rated songs and simple shuffle them to get similar playback as this script.
Just my thoughts...

Ok, so that's intended then? That seems a bit silly to me since the other plug-in allows you to set directories NOT within the library to scrobble.Peke wrote:Ok Answer Updates:
@All Others
Plugin Scrobbles only Tracks that are in Library as only tracks in library have Played# increased. Test: Copy some track outside MM to folder that is not In Library, navigate My Computer Node and play it. It will Be shown as Now Playing But Will Not be Scrobbled.
I have a method to my lunacy, such as keeping certain items secluded from MediaMonkey for my Zune and my fiancee's satellite radio/mp3 player... So I'd have to keep two instances of the files (one in the library, one out of it) to scrobble the songs? >_<
Not to harp on it, since you already are aware, but it's hard to verify because we have no idea what song it is. I'd like to think all the music in my library is well maintained so there shouldn't be any files without those very crucial fields filled out.Peke wrote:- 'skipping invalid tags' Means that Title/Artist/Album (If Selected) is Empty
I guess I could try to match up timestamps with my last played music, but might be difficult to track down what I've been listening to for the last two days. hehe
Just to recap what I'm hoping for:
1) The ability to scrobble songs NOT in my library, something along the lines of include/exclude dirs that are in other plug-ins
2) A better log file (which has already been mentioned as something you'll work on)
3) Scrobbling of the final track in a playlist, since I don't think I've ever turned on Auto DJ.

Aha, I understand now, I will see if there is some way to make it possible.
@MetalaxeKeith
- I do not see reason for making statistics on Last.fm if you do not want to do same in MM?
- Why duplicates? What is problem with those tracks that can't be used on Both players and in MM. You can make Filters For you and her and have completely different views of your library, also why don't you make Playlists for you and your Fiancee and Sync them only?

Well, that definitely was not my experience and it happened several times. I'll have to retest although maybe I should wait until you have a more detailed log file. It's definitely difficult to tell what's going on with it as it is now.Peke wrote:As you see all is scrobbled Ok.
Looking at your above, did you shut down MM while the next track was playing or did you stop it first then shut down MM. I stopped the track, then shut down MM.
Neither of those tracks are on the playlist in the screenshots you posted. Was that a different test?I just Recreted Your Settings and as Octopus Garden Started To play Oh Darling Got Scrobbled.

I just tried everything I could think off to get the plug-in to not work.
Closing while playing. Closing while playing with task manager. No auto DJ.
Selecting song that was closed on immediately, selecting it by scrolling to it.
Closing at various lengths of song played... I can not get the plug-in to not preform.
All I managed to do was mess up my MultiMedia keys on my keyboard.

Okay, I just did several more tests and I come up with the same results every time:
Here is my last.fm profile recent tracks so you can see that those tracks marked No need to submit did indeed NOT submit. I let a track play through in the middle of the test -- The Twilight Zone -- so you could see that there were indeed tracks scrobbling.

D Rock,
What you want to do is see if the last track in the Now Playing window scrobbles. Let it play through, with no other tracks following (turn off Continuous if you have it on) and then go check your last.fm profile once the played counter is increased. You don't have to shut down MM. The last track simply doesn't scrobble until the next track plays. If you shut down MM without playing any new tracks, however, that last track will never scrobble.

Cleared Now Playing, no DJ, no continuous play, added Men At work - Down Under, played all the way through, let it sit there for ten minutes. No Scrobble. Added Tears For Fears - Shout, and then Men At Work scrobbled.) Tears For Fears (no auto DJ, no continuous play) did not scrobble. Waited five minutes, added The Cars - Drive and Tears For Fears Scrobbled.
So, yes, I can repliclate.
