Hi,

I am not sure whether it has something to do with the way Mediamonkey synchronises with the iPod Classic or whether there is something wrong with my iPod...

When I put the iPod to play in my Logitech Audiostation, playback is suddenly paused. This happens at the beginning, middle or end parts of songs.

It seems to only happen within the first 15 minutes of playback. It does not happen with earphones. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Thanks.

Is the link in the first posting of the thread the most recent version of the plugin?

Hi,

I was wondering if its the correct way: When syncing samplers to my ipod although they have a correct Album Artist (or "various") entry in MM they are shown in Cover Flow as different albums while they're only samplers.

is it possible to change that? thanks

Hi,

I am using the lastest beta version of Mediamonkey with this plugin built in and I am generally happy with it, because I would just hate to use iTunes. :-(

However, I still cannot synchronise my whole library in one go. After a couple of hundred or sometimes thousand songs, it just stops and i get asked to send an error report (which i did).

Am I the only one having this problem?

I am trying to synchronise 18000 songs.

Thanks.

kuck

PS: Also, a lot of covers appear black to me.

It has happened to me too. I couldn't find a pattern and I couldn't reproduce the problem everytime. However I did noticed that--not always-- this happens when MM is converting non-iPod files to mp3s, particularly when they have lower bitrates.

What I did was the following:
  • Deleted (from the library) the files MM was trying to sync when the error showed up or when the process got stuck.
  • Repeated if necessary
  • Once all the files in my library were synced, I reinstalled MM and added the deleted files. Synced again.
It took me several tries to sync my whole library, as I said, I couldn't find a pattern, but eventually all my files were synced to my iPod, even those that were causing the errors.

Hope that helps.[/list]

Cali,

Mhh, reinstalling MM? When this happens for me, Mediamonkey itself does not crash, it just comes up with two error reports. As soon as I have sent those, the syncing process stops.

I start the syncing process again and it continues to transfer the next couple of thousand songs to my IPod.

So, it is working for me (somehow). It is not a big deal as it is working right now, because transfering your entire library is usually something you just do once.

I am just wondering whether more people have the same problem and would like to hear from them here. Otherwise, we could maybe blame our specific ipods. Maybe it is not happening to everyone with a large library of songs?!

best regards,

kuck

I had the same problem. I looked into the error file which should be send. So I found out that I had a few time problems with songs from one album. So I exclude this album from synchronising.

After that it work better.

I had also big problems with rebuilding the database with one album. It always stopped at same album. So I deleted this album from the IPOD and excluded it also from synchronising.

Good luck!!

PS: It took more than 2 days just to synchronise about 19'000 songs and to have all the cover with the right album.

Kuck:
Your problem with your Audiostation is only that iPod pause or it turn off?
With the last update all people are having problem with their iPods and the dock stations, the iPod goes to sleep constantly. Maybe your problem is similar. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jsp ... &tstart=30

MediaMonkey 2.5

Sorry to bring this up again, but is there any news on an add-on for those of us Luddites who are still running MM 2.5?

Thanks for your help.

Cron,

Yes, it seems you have found the reason for my problem. When my Audiostation stops playing it displays the big battery sign which is also mentioned in the discussion thread that you posted.

Thank you. I hope that Apple will fix that.

rgds,

kuck

PS: just downloaded the latest beta and I am eager to see all the good new fixes for the ipod Classic synchronisation. Synchronising now.... :-)

Too happy too early.

I get the following error when synchronising with the latest beta version 1098:

Cannot delete F:\iPod_Control\Music\F08\Com1.mp3. Access is denied. The file may be in use or you may not have access rights.

Choices are:
OK OK to All Retry

I had this happening in one of the earlier versions, but not in the 1091.

I hope Jiri is reading this.

best regards,

kuck

Hi Bill,

you've probably discovered the answer to this... but my friend has a nano and doesn't use MM... so I know that this was a problem with earlier firmware.. if you update your firmware now it should be fine.

You'll have a problem with Coverflow if you use MM, even if you update iPod to the last firmware. For iPod the field "Album artist" doesn't exist, so if you have a compilation album, in Coverflow you'll have an album art for each artist of that album. With iTunes you won't have this issue cos managing the properties of mp3 there is a box for compilations that you can mark, so Coverflow knows that is a compilation and you only will have one album art with all mp3 together. Like this compilation box doesn't exist in MM...

Think that Coverflow came from iTunes.
