Another update - last night I tried one more install (MMA) and sync. Same result, files sync'd fine, no play counts syncing.

But then I went to bed and woke up and my full charged note 2 battery (which always lasts overnight and then all day) was down to 5%, with 85% usage from MediaMonkey. It had scanned and scanned the library all night.

Trying one more time today, then I think I may be done for while. Seems like my phone is just weird and people seem to have stopped responding/..

Personnally i broke my s3 and i'm on a Moto G since 1 week

So far ratings (and songs obviously) have been sync'd properly, i can see it since rating some songs on my device removes them from the (dynamic) playlists based on ratings on MMW and then removes them from the device

I haven't checked the play counts though

I'll get a new screen for my s3 in 1 month, ill do more testing then.

I'm on 0214 for MMA and not the latest MMW, the one right before i think (sorry can't check right now, not at home)

Ah cool, thanks for the reply. How is that new phone by the way?

I love the stylus on my Note so don't want to give it up, but I have this urge to try out other phones lately...

Moto G is awesome, makes me wanna throw my s3 in the trash honestly, but it lacks a SD slot, which is fundamental to me as i carry thousands of MP3s (through mediamonkey ofcourse ;), vidéos in HD and thousand of pictures (i do some photography). But if you don't need that kind of space, its the perfect phone : great screen, decent battery and android runs smoothly (which is so enjoyable after spending 1 year on a laggy s3) and its really cheap.

So anyway its kind of paradoxal because the SD slot seems to be part of the reason we're having all these problems, but it still remains a requisite to me as long the internal memories don't go beyond 32GB..

So the irony is that this whole discussion might not make any sense in a couple of years when devices will have largely enough space for all the music you need .. ;)

Yeah same here. I could get by with 32GB probably, but this phone is only 16GB, and now that I am used to having a 64GB card it would be tough to go back (I carry similar stuff, plus some game roms). Used to have an ipod 'classic', so I'm used to having ridiculous amounts of storage. :D

hehe same story with the ipod! (lost in a journey :() ,

I havent heard of much devices with 64GB, but i just saw today that the new HTC one X+ will have a sd slot , so thats a pure android with SD? Actually i could go for a s4 pure android too, i'm just kinda annoyed to put so much money just to have a sd slot (and to get rid of lag)

When you see that they sell the moto G for 200$, i can't believe that only adding a sd slot costs 200 extra$..

We'll have to wait a little longer i guess

Good to hear about the new HTC phone having an SD slot. I'd read somewhere that most phone makers were moving away from that for one reason or another - even Samsung was considering it. I hope it was BS. :D

ScottieB wrote:Well I tested the new versions of MMA and MMW a bit the last two days and have had mixed results.

Before I updated anything, everything actually had been working well for a while. Play counts and ratings were syncing, sync was not copying files that were already on the device, and playlists were staying good on reboots.

Then I updated to the new versions of both. Now everything is still working EXCEPT for play counts and ratings. They will not sync back. I deleted the device profile and made a new one but it didn't help - same results. Removed everything from phone including app, made new profile on MMW, and still same result.

I really really want play counts to work... wish I knew what was changing. It has happened 3 times now that I've had everything working for a short period (a few weeks max) and then it just stops...

Glad the empty playlist thing seems to be fixed.
Ok. Could you please send me logs again ?....send it after sync. I think that the MMA db is already somehow corrupted from previous builds. We will implement some code to correct this. So please send me logs after sync to figure out what is wrong.

After that you can try to uninstall MMA and delete /MediaMonkey/ folder on all storages. New profiles and DB will be created and it should work. Please let me know.

Thanks for the reply. I will send logs after next sync.

I actually did delete all MediaMonkey folders - every time things aren't working right I delete those folders as well as uninstall the app and remove the Music folder and start all over.

Last night the battery drain thing didn't happen (I did a fresh install - deleted all folders and uninstalled app yesterday), so I'm thinking that was a fluke. I'm crossing my fingers that when I try a sync later tonight everything will work the way it should.

I've been able to replicate the battery drain problem as well--that's tracked at:
http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=11688

If you look through the bug, you'll notice a key point that will help you avoid this, and various other issues:
If you do a clean install by deleting MMA app data, and by deleting the /MediaMonkey folders, then run MMA once before you do a USB sync.

Let me know if that helps.

Ah, thanks Rusty - I knew I'd seen that before, and I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened.

Just to clarify - I SHOULD run MMA once before I sync, and that will AVOID the problem, correct?

If so, do I need to set up MMA, or just run it?

Ok so things are mostly working.

The play count thing seems to be hit or miss. I used my phone for music a bit today. Despite the fact that it crashed several times due to the ridiculous cold (all playlists intact on every reboot!), when I came home and synced, it got the songs I played throughout the day. Then after that sync (a few tracks were updated to the phone - metadata/tags I think), I played a few tracks from my comedy playlist, and 15 minutes later sync again - and those plays do not come over. I will see what happens tomorrow.

Also, every time I sync the phone wants to copy all of the playlists to the computer for some reason (I have copy new items from the phone turned on - but I uncheck these when it asks). I didn't change the playlists... MAYBE a song or two got moved in 1 or 2 playlists but I didn)t even touch all of them) so why does it want to copy them all back over?

So today the songs I played last night are not upping play count when I sync.

When I have some time (hopefully tonight) I will try to start fresh again, knowing now that I should run MMA once before I sync. Also gonna keep my phone inside my shirt so hopefully it stays warm enough while I'm walking around in the city. 8)

Ok odd - is there some sort of delay before a play count will register/sync?

Earlier today I synced and the tracks I played just before bed didn't update their play counts. Today I used MMA a bunch in the city, came home, and synced. Now the tracks I played last night have updated play counts, and tracks I played until around 4 this afternoon have updated play counts, but the handful of tracks I played since then did not update (it's 11:15pm now and I just got home - I listened to music from around 6-7 and then again from 10-10:30.

UPDATE - just synced again and a few more tracks (played from ~615-630) upped their counts... there's some delay apparently.

I haven't updated to the latest MMA yet but things seem to working well! There's still a several hour delay before a play count will actually update but I can live with that. Just grabbed the Pro version as well - nice work guys. Thanks!
