Help modifying WMDM device driver?

Post by mooseydoom »

I was wondering how to modify an existing one so it has more options & functionality. I want to create a sansa e200 driver which handles album art in MSC mode, and was thinking of adding this to the existing WMDM device plugin, but I have no clue how to start on this. Thanks in advance.

You could ask Jiri to help you with that.

Note I moved this to Device Forum as it is related To Portable Devices.

I'm not sure what exactly do you want to achieve. If you mean that you want to modify the current d_WMDM.dll plug-in, I could give out its sources (in Delphi), would it help you?

jiri-

If I understand him, he wants to add some of the 'plays for sure' type functionality to the MSC mode (win2k and earlier).

There are MANY of us who would love media monkey if it allowed us to use these "plays 4 sure" devices on win2k machines....with all the functionality that microsoft says you have to have XP with wmp10 for.

no, i wanted to have the album art file transferred, and maybe playlist conversion. (The sansa e200 can display non-embedded album art if it is in the same directory, and it uses a different playlist format.)

jiri - yeah, the sources would be great. Unless there's an easier way to do this.

i'm not sure what's missing for the "plays for sure" functionality. I use win2k and can transfer in MSC mode. It's my understanding that you need XP and wmp10 to use MTP to synchronize playlists.

You could e-mail me requirements of the device (format of playlists, any specifics of album art) and its USB ID (use Find Device in Generic USB device plug-in) and we'll try to get it into the next release (but no promises... ).
