When layout of MM panes has gone wrong is a Reset possible?

Post by computerace »

Have just been playing around with the layout of panes in MediaMonkey and for some reason, something went wrong and now I am not able to get the old layout back which I liked the most.

Whenever I am trying to get one pane to dock one window to the middle top it takes over more spacing than I want it to, or it goes hiding behind another pane. It got all out of control.

So my question is, is there a way to reset the layout to the one that came the first time I installed the software.

The above happened with the layout of the software with another userprofile logon on my computer.

My original one is still fine and doesn't need to be reset.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe this information is stored in the registry, presuming in the CURRENT_USER section if it's only affected one user. Removing these keys will cause them to be recreated, but don't attempt this unless you know what you're doing with the registry.
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.

Which exact keys should I delete?

Post by computerace »

Many thanks Trixmoto, for the last quick reply!

There are a lot of entries in the registry related to mediamonkey. Exactly which keys and/or fields should I safely delete in Current User to reset the layout without messing things up in my registry? Or would perhaps waiting for the latest beta release and installing that fix the issue. I am quite new to Mediamonkey, so apologies.

By the way, I do feel confident with editing the registry as I have done that many times before (I do know about backing it up before making any changes, etc.) :)

I'm not sure where these values are stored. Can the devs help on this please?

unfortunately I think installing only creates the keys if they are not there, as far as I'm aware they do not reset these values.

HKey_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Songs-DB\Toolbars

HKey_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Songs-DB\Interface

deleting these two keys should do it (export them to a save place before deleting  ).

Success!!!

Many thanks, Heinimuecki

Although the keys weren't exactly how you described on my computer, it was very similar and not much thinking was necessary to pick the correct branch.

The registry branch I deleted in the end after first exporting it to a safe place was
HKey_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Songs-DB\Interface\Toolbars

After restarting MediaMonkey all panes were reset and I was able to place the panes exactly the way I wanted.

I REALLY appreciate your efforts to help me getting this one sorted.
