Newly added albums aren't added to sync list

In the sync list, i usually have the artist tree checked, by checking "Artist" at the top of that tree, like this:
But if I add an album, it doesn't automatically check it, so I end up with this:
Which I don't notice until I go there confused as to why my new album isn't on my iPod. I would have emailed this in as a bug, but I didn't know if I was missing some hugely obvious "sync entire library" option.
