So i went gold last week, got my new ipod classic 160gig, and so far it all syncs very fine.
except for the podcasts, there's a 2 small glitches:
my setup is to have mm running on the desktop at home having an external disk with all the mp3s. so this is where i sync the entire library with ipod. and that's all fine.
on the laptop there's also mm - used for some mp3s on the move and used for podcasts.
so i set the laptop-mm up to sync only the podcasts, which also works.
mm is setup to download any new podcast and to remove the file if older than 1 day, not listened to and not rated (lower than 0,5*).
this also works fine.
so i listen to a podcast on the laptop, rate it or not and therefore it will be kept or deleted during next podcast-updates.
when listening to podcasts on the ipod it syncs back the played-# counter and the rating, so that also works.
after the sync, when mm updates the podcasts it removes the episodes i listened on the ipod. that's also fine.
but the next time i sync with the ipod there's 2 problems:
1) the episodes already on the ipod, deleted from mm during podcast-updates are not deleted from ipod.
2) all the podcasts i already listened to are in the "new" status on the ipod with the blue dot in the episode list
for the 1st problem - i can not set mm to delete anything not on the sync list - as i sync the music with the desktop and not the laptop it would delete all the songs during podcast-sync on laptop. so an option would be to have the "delete tracks that aren't on the auto-sync list..." for each type of content - library, audiobooks, podcasts.
and the 2nd problem seems to be a issue as each podcast-sync seems to reset the listened-counter on the ipod / having ipod think it's new. i guess that could be fixed easily...
and beside this - issue no-3 - what about video podcasts? they sync, but are not listed under videos on the ipod. under podcasts they appear but no video plays... any idea?
thanks for your support!, Martin.

Re: podcast sync issue & bug on 1116...?
Same here...I had subscribed to 4 podcasts via MM3, which I had in iTunes. Now, the playlists with video won't play (just audio, but even then, they just freaked out and started flashing...I can't quite describe it!).martinick wrote: and beside this - issue no-3 - what about video podcasts? they sync, but are not listed under videos on the ipod. under podcasts they appear but no video plays... any idea?

So, I kept two podcasts in MM3, which are all audio. The two which have both audio and video, I kept in iTunes. I manually manage them in iTunes. So far so good, but it would be nice to have all my podcasts in one place!

Regarding podcasts, there was another message somewhere (but I can't find it, so I posting here) that podcasts subscribed to and sync'd through MM3 will not play on the iPod. The first episode plays and the others all get stuck at 0:00. Same here. My podcasts from iTunes (The two audio and video podcasts I mentioned in the previous posts) play fine.

You're lucky...I haven't had too many major problems syncing with the iPod and MM3. But now that I tried podcasts, I did end up with these two problems. I should have left all my subcriptions in both places until its all worked out, so I'll have to use iTunes for podcasts until its all worked out in MM3.

Problem 2) will be fixed in the next release. Problems 1) and 3) are rather feature requests, hopefully to be implemented sometimes, but I can't say when.
As for non-playing Podcasts, we would need some more information, e.g. whether it's always reproducable with some (all) Podcasts, whether you tried to clean up your iPod, which iPod model do you have, etc.

Jiri - Thanks for your reply!
yes, number 1 is more if a feature request...
about the podcasts - for me all audio-only podcasts are playing fine, so i have no problem there. ipod classic running on 1.0.2 until some days ago and now on 1.0.3.
mm3 is on 1120 now, everything is fine here.
the only problem are the videopodcasts - a simple podcast but instead of mp3 it uses mp4 video-files.
mm syncs them, so the files are there. they appear as other podcasts, but it only plays the audio.
and they are not listed under the "video"-menu.
i am not using itunes at all btw, so there is no double-synching between itunes & mediamonkey.
regards, Martin.
