i have mediamonkey 3.0.3.1140 and whenever it gets to a .m4a track it just skips over it, putting the track in a faded color thing and wont play it even when i click it again.

not sure what to do. any ideas?

You need to have quicktimeor quicktime alternative installed in order to play m4a tracks.

Are you sure that the files are accessible?

all music is in the same directory, not on network files.
and it just affects .m4a files. perhaps if i convert them
to another format. it'll be a pain, but might fix it.
a change in plug-in, whether in or out or dsp does
nothing.

That thread really only applied to MM2, while MediaMonkey version 3 has native m4a playback support. Are you sure you're using MM3?

Native support means that you don't need to install a plugin with MediaMonkey, you will need either Quicktime or Quicktime Alternative though.

I know this is an old thread, but I have been over and over all of the threads I can find, and NONE of them are allowing me to play MY ENTIRE LIBRARY, encoded in lossless M4A...

I have installed and uninstalled a dozen times at least, MM3, QTalt, QT, any and nearly all CoDecs I could find on the internet... nothing. I have re-installed using various and sundry orders, as well... Any order, all options, and I still cannot get any of the files to play... I have an older install/version on my laptop, and it works, I cannot make it work on my newly re-formatted desktop, though... REALLY getting frustrated, here!

Help, please?

add another user to the count of those who have quicktime installed and no m4a files will play.

I was having the same problem! I found this, downloaded the player from the last page of the beta forum, and now all of my M4A's work. I hope it works for you!

Lastest quicktime isn't compatible with MM unless you update to the beta version of MM 3.12.1282 -- its available in the "beta-testing" section of this forum.
Need help? Got a suggestion? Can't find something?

quicktime may be necessary but it doesn't solve the problem on its own.

Got m4a files to play after downloading and running the aac/m4a codec trial exe from here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/input-output/

But... the third track I played skipped out near the end - there is no skipping in the file played in iTunes
! I'm letting it play as I type this - just got more skipping during the 7th track.

Going to try file conversion from m4a to mp3, maybe the skipping just a defect in playback.
