Any clues as to why this album is being separated out into different segments? Is there something in the tag info that's making the app think it is a separate album?

Strange "break-up" of albums in album cover + detail view

Re: Strange "break-up" of albums in album cover + detail view
Just as soon as I posted it, I see "Goo Goo Dolls" and "The Goo Goo Dolls" as the Artist info. What logic does MM employ here? It must be doing something to list "Goo Goo Dolls" and "The Goo Goo Dolls" within close proximity of each other in the list...and then sorting by track number?
Re: Strange "break-up" of albums in album cover + detail view
I'm having the same problem with MANY albums!
Most of them are tagged using Picard via musicbrainz and from what I have read this is supposed to be one of the best taggers, yet MM seems not to always be able to see or recognize these tags.
Doesn't MM read ID3v2.3 tags?
Why does it recognize 9 of the 12 tracks as belonging to "A Hard Days Night" and 3 of the tracks from the same album - tagged with v2.3 tags - as "Unknown"?

Last MM version should read ID3 v2.3 and 2.4 without problem.

Re: Strange "break-up" of albums in album cover + detail view
So, any idea why it is not doing so?PetrCBR wrote:Last MM version should read ID3 v2.3 and 2.4 without problem.
This brings me to this:
Probably a dumb question, but is there a way of looking at my tags? How can I tell which version the tags are and make sure they're there as they should be?
I am assuming Musicbrainz' Picard is tagging properly but I really do not know for sure. It seems to work and so I assume it is putting the tags in properly. Is there a way to be sure, so I can find out if it's a Picard tagger problem, not a MM problem?
How does one look at the tags on mp3's or wav's that one has supposedly created through a tagging program?

Re: Strange "break-up" of albums in album cover + detail view
I think that the breaking up of the album is due to the album having multiple album arts. Make sure each track is associated with the same album art or has the same album art in its tag.

Re: Strange "break-up" of albums in album cover + detail view
Good point...I'll have a look at that in a bit. I have several albums that are broken up this way and I'll see if clearing the album art for all tracks and then "re-assigning" an album front cover rectifies this behavior.nohitter151 wrote:I think that the breaking up of the album is due to the album having multiple album arts. I asked this in another post and it may be dumb but:nohitter151 wrote:I think that the breaking up of the album is due to the album having multiple album arts. Make sure each track is associated with the same album art or has the same album art in its tag.
How do I look at song tags to see WHAT their tags are saying?
Is this what is visible by clicking on properties within MM? Are those reading the actual tags? Or is there another way to quickly read tags?

Track properties shows what is in the MM database. This should match what is in the track tags so long as you have "update tags when editing properties" checked under Tools -> Options -> Tags & Playlists.jimsocal wrote:I asked this in another post and it may be dumb but:nohitter151 wrote:I think that the breaking up of the album is due to the album having multiple album arts. jimsocal,
for differences between database and tags you can use "Files To Edit/Unsynchronized tags"; node in navigation tree. If there will not be a problem, send me your database with detailed description (about what albums are splitted in which node in navigation tree etc.). My mail is petr < att > mediamonkey < dott > com.

Okay, I didn't know about the Unsynchronized Tags node.PetrCBR wrote:jimsocal,

But now, I clicked on that and it is showing me a long list of albums.
I read the Help file on this and it says the problems tags should appear in yellow.
*I have nothing in the list appearing in yellow.*
Also, some of the albums it says are "unsynchronized" are mp3 albums I tagged with Picard and which seem by all appearances to be tagged properly - the album art and tracks are all together as one and they appear the way I would want them to appear in MediaMonkey. So why are they appearing in this list of "unsynchronized tags" list?
Then I have a lot of Unknowns which obviously do need attention... which brings me to the next question.
Let's say I have a folder of tracks a friend gave me, they are in no order, they appear spread out one track at a time in this list. I want to sort them all into the folder they are actually in and tag them all as "Joe's Tracks". But I can't seem to figure out a way to sort them within the Unsynchronized tags node. In other words, they appear randomly in the list. On my computer they are listed as "Joe's Tracks" in that folder but in Media Monkey here they just appear as random tracks all over the place.
How do I sort them so I can put them all in order and tag them?
