Tray Icon Gestures

Post by M3lloware »

Hello,

I am new to MediaMonkey but love it. I am also an experienced Delphi programmer since 1996. I have a couple of minor things that are easy to fix in Delphi and will make the tray icon gestures much more usable.

1. Change the color or icon when it is Play or Pause state. This gives me visual indication of whether the player is playing or paused. I use the tray to play/pause all the time and I have written other applications that have this tray functionality. Whether it is an icon overlay of a Pause or Play symbol or as simple as changing the icon color to red for stopped, the normal yellow icon for playing would provide a huge usability boost.

2. I love the gesture to click and move right to advance to next track, however also have the middle mouse button or "mouse wheel button" advance to the next track would increase my productivity greatly. i have used other media application that have this functionality.

Great work guys!

Using the mouse wheel button is genius.

Yep, just came to offer the Wheel - when hovering the tray icon and using it to be able to either Volume Up/Down, Seek Back/Forward or Go to Previous/Next song; also mouse left could start the song from the beginning ;)

Those are good ideas too! I think the tray icon gestures are minor fixes that could greatly increase our MM productivity.

Yes.

Some things should jump right to the top of the list (if they're relatively easy). They probably do already... but this is one of them, I reckon. Thanks and good luck with it.

You could do worse than get PetrCBR on your side. (Report it as a bug in the Beta forum . Don't tell him I sent you  !)

I support your idea of pause/active states for the tray icon.
(would prefer to have the monkey grayed out then red when in pause though)

And the use of the middle click and the wheel for some actions.
