So everyone else must have had this problem, but really for the life of me I can't find any reference to it exactly.
Obviously when I upgraded to 3.0 I couldn't use MM any more, and I tunes tells me I have no music on my phone but I do have 14Gb of 'other' files. Problem is, I can't for the life of me find them to delete them. I have no music on my phone that works, and no space to add any. I want to beat my head against a wall.
I think if I restored that would solve problems- but friggin I tunes demands I upgrade to 3.1 if I want to restore my own device, and that would un jailbreak my phone.
(BTW, I had this problem before I jailbroke my phone, so it's not that- I was hoping I could get to the root and delete the files, but I can't seem to find them there either. Torture.)
If someone tells me i'm an idiot because I've missed something obvious, so be it, but for the love of god- help?
Thanks,
Living a grey life without music.

Yes, I've reset it several times.
I'm rather surprised no one else had this problem. When everyone else who had been using MM to manage/sync music- what happened to your music after upgrading to 3.0? Was it still there for everyone else? Because for me it was 'gone' according to itunes on the phone, but still taking up space some how.
I've googled and read forums- I can't seem to find an answer.
Thanks

Re: How to delete unusable mp3's after 3.0 upgrade?
I was on the same boat after testing initially MM copy workarounds. But after trying to delete various directories off the iPhone with no success i just bit the bullet and did a restore, then restore from iTunes backup, followed by re-jailbreaking.
Okay, you have to reinstall the Cydia apps you had previously, but all in all pretty painless. (due to the iTunes backup)
Can't understand why iTunes demands you install 3.1 as its only in beta. Can't you hold shift down to get the file/directory dialogue up to specify your 3.0 firmware file?
