What media player for android?
First post here, searched around but couldn't find what I am looking for. Apologies in advance for missing this somewhere.
I have a My Touch 3G with the Android OS. What media player have you had success syncing with MM? Why do you like it? I am mostly interested in synching music files to the phone, similar in the way I do for my Ipod from Itunes.
Thank you.

Let me chime in with a similar question. Just got the Samsung Galaxy S (here in Korea). Downloaded about 20GB of music on the external SD card, but I found the built-in Samsung media player didn't work for me. My problem is that I want the tree view, similar to MM. With this browser, you can select Artist, Album, Genre, and Songs, but that's all. I mean, you can choose the first level only, after that I don't know how it decides to sort. For example, I'd like to sort by Genre, then by Artist, then by album. Found another media player called TuneWiki, but it seems to have similar limited sort ability.
Can anyone recommend any more powerful Media players for Android?

Re: What media player for android?
I have been using a neat player called (3 cubed) Nice interface and shows promise although it lacks gapless playback still.
Even though my album art has been id3 tagged in MM, it somehow does not display. Cubed wants to prompt me to download missing album art, which if I allow it to do so, adds more image files to my sd card.
I would like to switch to a media player that has both gapless playback, as well as the ability to display tagged album art in a way that hides it from the default Android photo gallery.

I use Mixzing as my media player and like it a lot. I ended up buying the full app.
Using MM and Mixzing all the album art and track info works when I sync. The interface is decent and presents the usual lists by Artists, Album, Songs, Genres, Playlists. Lists are only sorted alphabetically based on which list you're viewing. As far as I can tell it doesn't have a way to change the sort, but I've never had to use this. I use MM auto playlists a lot and I sync and play music mostly using those playlists so this was the biggest feature I needed and MM and MixZing work really well together.
BTW, I used it on my original Moto Droid and my new R2D2 (same as Droid 2).

Have given up on syncing for the moment but the good news is that there is a lot of activity on Android music players at the moment. WinAmp's first attempt looks really good but what's really looking very good is a beta of PowerAmp that's just emerged. Have a look on the XDA Developers forum for a link to a download site.
A working equaliser with presets, almost (and being worked on) gapless playback, a 'pre amp' volume booster, inbuilt codecs that play most formats and so much more. Comes in a little heavyweight on app size (4.5mb) but as a first beta release it could really shake things up.

Re: What media player for android?
I have been trying Mixzing, as well as 3(cubed). What is driving me crazy is that the album art now shows up in my Android "Gallery" where my photos and other images should be seen. Anyone know a media player that allows the media album cover images to be "hidden" from the Android Gallery application? It seems strange that no one has noticed this conflict.nohkul wrote:I use Mixzing as my media player and like it a lot. I ended up buying the full app.

Anyone found a good music app for the Android yet?
I'm looking to have my Samsung Galaxy Tab dance with MM on my desktop.

I just posted in another thread about "PowerAmp", I like it mostly for the 10 band EQ. It has a scrobbler, and tag editor.

Re: What media player for android?
Wargazm asks a great question. Since I listen mostly on my phone, and most of my music is "unrated" I want to be able to make sure the ratings tie back into MM.
Re: What media player for android?
PowerAmp seems to have no option to change the ratings. In addition it ignores the playlists, MM created during sync. There is a lot of work till droid-users will have a player with iPod-comfort.
Next weekend I will look 4 a solution with the playlists.

Re: What media player for android?
I bought PlayerPro now. There I can change the rating very comfortable. For droid < 2.3 u can install a dspdriver (free) with 2.3 it's not necessary.
This weekend I will try to get the sync running.
Still have the prob that the playlists from MM were not found by PlayerPro.
Tested with 3.2.4. Will make some tries with the beta.
Update: PlayerPro has problems to save a changed rating, which is created by MM.
Sync doesn't work
. Seems, that there are a lot of components (phone, android, mm, pp, windows drivers) which do not work together in the expected way.

Re: What media player for android?
I am using MM and have Poweramp on my Android (Samsung Captivate). Poweramp is the best I've tried and the only one I have purchased. The sound is amazing through my car stereo. It also does gapless and crossfade - although my preference is not available in the current version, I prefer the incoming track to start at full volume...Poweramp fades-out the playing track and fades-in the new track. The EQ is great. Album art shows up nicely. Playlists I create in MM are recognized in Poweramp. Sometimes when I sync I get two playlists (same names but one has "0" tracks), so I delete the "0" track playlists and I'm back in business. If the sync'd playlist is not recognized by the player, I think this is an O/S issue, not necessarily Poweramp as I have noticed this with other players.

Another +1 for PowerAmp
I've tried about 5 or 6 other players on my Atrix and PowerAmp satisfied my needs more than any other.
7 Player & Player Pro were high on the list as well.
The only thing I have not seen work is the back synching of playcount and ratings ... it seems only a few apps can do this with MM. This will become a problem for me if not resolved over the next few months, but for now, with everything else working smooooooooth, I'm a happy MM & PowerAmp user.

Which "only a few" do the "the back synching of playcount and ratings?" That too is a KEY feature for me. Why hasn't MM created their own app by now? It can't be that hard, considering the number out there.
