iPhone OS4 Syncing

Post by MaFt »

I know it's only just been released but I have developer access and so have installed OS4 beta on my iPhone.

Trouble is, MediaMonkey now tells me the firmware is not compatible and won't write any songs to the phone...

Is there anyway around this firmware check? Eg a settings file for MM that I can edit to say allow 4.0 so I can test it or will I have to wait for an official MM update?

Thanks in advance!

Please find a testing version uploaded to http://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/d_iPhone.dll
Note that it hasn't been tested, it's just internally updated to accept FW 4.0
Please let us know the results.

Thanks,

Jiri - thanks for that.

However, it doesn't work :(

It comes up with the track removal options which works fine but then when it attempts to copy to the device it just stops before completing one.

If I then open the iPod on the iPhone it says 'updating database' but then there is no music on it. I can see the ringtones (*.m4r) on the device via MM but can't add anything new.

Can you let me know if there are any other tests you want me to try?

There probably isn't much to be tested atm, we will look into it and try to make MM compatible soon.

Seeing as it's not officially released until 'summer' I wouldn't bust a gut just to please me!!

I think I also read someone had the same issue with the iPad so maybe it's an iTunes 9.1 issue rather than an OS4 issue.

Anyway, the off beta testing for you still stands!

iTunes 9.2 now causes a crash in MM when iphone connected so can't even check.I'd assume not as out looks like apple have changed the drivers again.

it was released to the public yesterday. run 'apple software updater' or simply use the 'check for updates' in itunes 9.1...

Maybe you shouldn't as it breaks compatibility with MediaMonkey.

indeed that's true but it also allows backup and sync with iOS4 devices on Windows, so unless they don;t want to sync or backup their iphone, or they have 9.2beta on the Mac from the Dev center then there's not many other options...!
