Hi,
Setting the scene
I have been an iPhone user and always used MM to create autoplaylists and sync my music. I also assigned ratings to tracks on my iPhone which would be sync'd back onto MM database - NO PROBLEMS when using iPhone with MM.
What has changed?
I have moved to a Samsung Galaxy S II running on Android v2.3 Gingerbread
What problems am I facing?
Playlists
When I sync MM with the 32GB microsd card in my Samsung Galaxy SII, the playlists do not get copied over (I have tried multiple music players on the phone).
Music Ratings
My music ratings do not appear in any music player on the phone or even on Kies (the samsung software)
I want to be able to change ratings on the phone so they sync back onto the MM db when I next sync.
The above all might be a problem with the way tags are used in the android music players, but I was hoping MM would be compatible with android phones. Any help appreciated.
btw, wrong forum, I know, but if anyone has any questions about the Samsung Galaxy SII, then feel free to PM me.

Re: MM sync with Android (Samsung Galaxy S II) - Some Proble
Ok...58 views and not one bit of help!!
ok...The music rating issue is resolved (well...kind of!) The music ratings in MM are saved on the file itself, and I have found a player that can read those.
wrt the playlists, any ideas?
Regards

Sync is easy. I just sync'd the same way as I did with my iphone and it worked. do you have a specific problem? Does mm detect your phone?
Re: MM sync with Android (Samsung Galaxy S II) - Some Proble
Can you confirm that you have two way (device-mm) ratings sync working?
Re: MM sync with Android (Samsung Galaxy S II) - Some Proble
I put kies onto my laptop, mm then found the phone.
I then right clicked on a playlist and chose the sync to Samsung phone option, just as I always have with the ipods/iphones, that worked fine ... BUT when playing the playlist on the Samsung Galaxy S it gets "stuck" on the second song!
Hunting forums to see if I can find a solution.

Re: MM sync with Android (Samsung Galaxy S II) - Some Proble
Ok - I have 100% the same definition of a project (hardware identical and the task of syncing the ratings).
One problem of the samsung is, that the mtp-driver doesn't work correctly (I think). Syncing via the mtp-driver always ends in loosing the playlists.
So you have to set the transfermode to USB in the settings (sorry - I can't tell you the english descriptions).
Syncing via USB is 3 to 5 times faster then via mtp and all playlists (mm4) are copied.
Next challenge is: how do you change a rating on the galaxy and sync it back?
I use PlayerPro. And here it ends. Syncing back is not possible. The only method is, copying all changes tracks back to their original location. Not a real solution. So I rate new songs on my phone and transcribe the ratings manually to mm.
So I'm waiting for a player, which works together with mm

Edit: Was your mtp-driver installed correctly? I couldn't install the driver till I removed the sd-card. Then I could install the mtp-driver. After this I could reinstall the sd-card.

Re: MM sync with Android (Samsung Galaxy S II) - Some Proble
I've created a script to sync back ratings: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 88#p308062
Sync Back Ratings & Play Count, Sync stats for Android PlayerPro XML, Import music stats from Songbird XML
Recognize badly mastered music - detect clipping and compression
MMW Gold since 2009, MMA Pro since 2014.

Re: MM sync with Android (Samsung Galaxy S II) - Some Proble
So do we have a solution yet? I am getting my Samsung GSII Epic Touch this week, and I tend to edit/fix tags, update ratings and create new playlists on my device a lot, so I am looking for a possible way to sync those changes back from android device to MM. While I think Aff's script may have a possible solution, there is one more thing I am looking for. I sometimes download music on my android device, if possible I want to sync those back too. Please share back if you found any workaround.

Has anyone figured this out yet?
