Is the Songs DB Gold license transferrable to Media Monkey

Post by daved »

Simple question - is there a simple answer? I'm hoping that my existing licence will be worth something, even if it's only a discount :D

PS: I only bought it in May this year!

Yes, all Songs-DB Gold licenses were sold for lifetime, which means that they are still valid for MediaMonkey.

Help !

Jiri, Rusty,

Does my SongsDB Gold license equate to a MediaMonkey standard license or the Gold license?
If the former I lose the additional features but can download without any problems.
If the latter I have to pay the $19.95 because there doesn't seem to be any way around the online purchasing procedure.
I think you could do with a clear policy on licensing, including how to deal with recent purchases of SongsDB.
Could you have an email facility for registered users - probably safer than an online form.

Upgrading from Songs-DB Gold to MediaMonkey

Post by rusty »

When you purchased Songs-DB Gold, you should have received a license key. That license key 'activated' Songs-DB into Songs-DB Gold.

If you install MediaMonkey, that same license key will activate MediaMonkey into MediaMonkey Gold--you don't need to purchase anything. Moreover, it will also activate all future versions of MediaMonkey into MediaMonkey Gold, since when you purchased it, it was sold as a 'lifetime' license.

btw, the reason we don't have anything on the site about this is that we contacted most Songs-DB Gold customers via e-mail to explain the situation; evidently, we've missed a few.

Hope this is clear now--you're set for life

OK I finally installed MediaMonkey. It's good. I struggled to find where to enter my registration though, and finally worked out that it had actually picked it up from SongsDB automatically, by testing out some of the Gold features. A little help during this upgrade process would have been really cool!
Maybe you could have the help|about panel carry some sort of affirmative message as to what's installed - most other programs do and it's one of the first places to look.
