So I upgraded to MM 4 Gold from my MM 3 license, and I've noticed that now when I start up the program, my music doesn't show up until it has been rescanned into the library.
I don't recall this happening in MM3. I could fire it up and start playing music automagically. Now, when I click on Library, things only show up as they are re-scanned. Minor annoyance, but I'm not sure why this is happening.
Any ideas?

Check out
Options>Library>File Monitor (box at bottom)>Scan at Startup. Is it unchecked?

No, it is checked, it has always been checked, even when I had MM3.
I can uncheck it, I guess I'll just have to recheck it each time I want to add music. But something changed. In MM3, all tracks that had previously been added to the library were able to be played immediately, now, they have to be re-added/verified or something.

Are you sure?
Note: the Now Playing always get's read in independently from the database (same in MM3 and MM4), so the larger the Now Playing queue the longer this process takes.
Note: Loading Library nodes may take a little time (far less than same amount in Now Playing) as the database needs to be read for the file data (same in MM3 and MM4).

I think I'll just disable it like you mentioned before. Perhaps I'm just more observant now =]
Thanks!

I have "Scan Continuously" checked and it is pointed to the folder where my music is. Then any new additions to library are seen immediately.I can uncheck it, I guess I'll just have to recheck it each time I want to add music.

Or, if you disable "scan continuously" save settings, and then re-enable.
It would be nice if MM would just include a "rescan" button.
