Hi,

I've just installed the beta 4 and when connecting my iPod Video MM displays a very weird (and very lengthy) name. Here are screen captures:

I'm using a French version of Windows, and my iPod name was set up with the Apple installer. Let me know if you need some iPod file to investigate.

I have also experienced this. My Ipod shows up in Media Monkey with a name a very long string of strange characters. Something like this. a bunch of rantom squares similar to the oes that show up if you do not have a font installed.

Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
iPod 5G 60 GB

Using Beta 4 (Gold), MM crashed and gave repeated error messages when attempting to connect/synch to the iPod. Ended up with two "iPods" showing up under "d_ipod.dll". Had to uninstall Beta 4 completely and reinstall Beta 3, and completely re-load the iPod (rebuild device database didn't solvethe problem). Betas 2 & 3 worked flawlessly previously...

Anyone getting this error, please e-mail me DB files from your iPod, namely content of folders: \iPod_Control\iTunes, \iPod_Control\Device and \iPod_Control\Artwork

Thanks,
Jiri

An updated iPod plug-in dll can be downloaded from http://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/d_iPod.dll. Please let us know if this version works fine for you.

Thanks,

Thanks, the new dll fixes the weird name issue. From a quick glance at other iPod functions there doesn't seem to be any regression.

Thanks Jiri!

I got brave and re-installed Beta 4 and then put the new dll in the plug-ins folder and everything works great now.

Correction: one minor problem ... new songs uploaded to the iPod (5G)now are missing cover art.

Also, the "Device Profile" configuration shows a level volume option when the iPod is not connected. It is nowhere to be found when the iPod is connected. Strange.

Re. album art - I suppose you mean songs with newly added album art (e.g. from Amazon). That's an issue described elsewhere here in forums and is in MM 2.5.

Re. leveling - this option is there for iPod Shuffle only and shouldn't show otherwise - will be fixed.

Thanks,
Jiri

Yes, using Beta 4 (2.5.1.924) songs with newly added album art show as getting updated when syncing the iPod, but don't have their cover art actually show up on the iPod. The thing is, it worked perfectly in Beta 3 for me when doing this. It is just Beta 4 with the updated iPod dll that it doesn't work.

Thought it might be something like that... Looking forward to yet another feature!

Album Art fails to update

Rik,

If the Album Art is being saved to a file then the time stamp on the track isn't updated, and as a result, the Album Art doesn't get added (see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6844 ). Is that the case here?

Note: if the tracks are added for the first time, then the art should update correctly--the above problem is only with updates.

Let us know.
