As far as I'm know, there is currently no commercial DRM on MP3 files. Yes, I know Fraunhofer and a couple of other enterprises experimented with adding a copy protection layer / watermarking to the MP3 format, but I'm not aware of this ever taking off. Thus, I doubt DRM is the problem.

Are you sure that this is not a Digital Rights Management issue?

Try as I might, I have files that even when I totally erase the Ipod touch and resynch will not transfer correctly, even when there is enough room. Both Itunes and Mediamonkey will also say that the track is either defective or not on the device. The track plays fine when played straight from the harddrive.

The ratio right now is about 70 out of 760 files do not transfer. I am checking out whether it could be an album art problem. On the other hand, I have one specific album where 2/3rds of the track do not transfer, the other 1/3rd does.

I think I found part of the puzzle. The stuff I wanted to synchronize over several iterations grew larger than the memory on the device. When MM complained I asked to sync anyway. It did AND the files seemed to fit (because some were autoconverted down) but apparently the library on the touch does NOT get updated correctly then. When I made room on the Touch (removing some videos) so that all files would fit first go, the sync seems to work correctly - about 100 files that should have been there (but weren't) now transfer (although at least a part of them SUPPOSEDLY was on the device already). Although I now have to check out a lot of files whether they transferred OK. Expect another update later today.

In short terms: When you sync more tracks than can fit on the device and ignore the warning box, the sync goes awry.

And, yes I am using build 1140 (I upgraded to 1140 before connecting the Ipod Touch for the first time three days ago). The Ipod Touch is on 1.1.4

First of all: THANK YOU! The Ipod Touch support is nothing short of excellent. I never had a device (Apple or Creative) that synched SO FAST. I first thought the Sync was not working as it was blazing through the files.

With 3.0.3 Beta 1 I have seen that sometimes files that I give Album Artwork do require a manual "Ctrl-S" (Sync back Tags) before Art appears on the device after sync. I am pretty sure that never happened to me before, but of course right now I can not place whether this is a 3.0.3. problem or an Ipod specific problem.

Also I have a couple of Music files that I ripped from CD with Media Monkey that do not play back. I am using the VBR 160+ method with no changed advanced settings. Most likely again this is an Ipod Touch problem as the files play fine on my Ipod 5.5 80 Gig. The Touch just sits on them for 2 seconds, then jumps to the next track.

Quick Internet search did not bring up anything that some tracks do not play OK on a Touch. Did anybody hear anything like that?
